Biography

Their trademark is the brute force of musical handcraft. Their tool a sound forged from phlegmatic rhythms, unsparing German lyrics and moving power.
MAERZFELD - a band with a philosophy coming straight from life itself. A work of art, impressing with strength, honesty and irony.
The name MAERZFELD stands for all of that:
March (German: März) always has been considered the determined month of labor as in fields need to be tilled, seeds sowed.
The idea for a band came up in October 2009 after frontman Heli decided to finally compose music to his lyrics. Shortly after, MAERZFELD was formed including:

The beginnings in chronological order:
March 5th 2011:
The band releases an EP of 3 titles ("Ich Flieg", "Vaterland" and "Exil") and presents itself the same month, opening for "Night of the Jumps" in the O2 arenas of Berlin and Hamburg.
?Ich Flieg" was especially written for this occasion.

November 12th 2011:
Maerzfeld independently release their debut "Tief" and immediately receive great recognition by the press and audience.
January 2012:
The band signs to the Munich label Südpolrecords.
March 16th 2012:
Newly designed, "Tief" successfully makes its way through the German music scene, regarding Maerzfeld as the heirs of Rammstein.
They tour Switzerland and Austria, also playing German festivals and support bands like Crematory, In Extremo, Eisbrecher, Stahlmann and Ohrenfeindt.
September 14th 2012
Maerzfeld release their official video to "Hübschlerin"
January 2013:
The band starts working on the second album "Fremdkörper"
May -July 2013:
Due to job-related reasons Samir (bass), Roland (guitar) and Thomas (drums) leave Maerzfeld.
The new faces are Bora Öksüz (bass), Mike Sitzmann (guitar) and Micha Frischbier (drums).
September 20th 2013:
Together with the producers Simon Michael (Subway to Sally) and Fabio Trentini the band starts the recordings to "Fremdkörper" at Great Hall Studios in Ebermannstadt.
December 8th 2013:
"La petite mort" the first single release from the upcoming album immediately enters the DAC (German Alternative Charts) at number 7 and remains in the charts for several weeks.
December 24th 2013:
Just in time for Christmas the band releases the official video to "Fremdkörper".


January 3rd 2014:
Maerzfeld marks the release of their second album "Fremdkörper" with a major show.
March 20th 2014:
The headlining tour titled "Fremdkörper" begins.
March 24th 2014:
"Fremdkörper" enters the DAC (German Alternative Charts) at number 10 and the official Metal Charts at number 9.

Some background on the band members:
Micha (drums) originally had worked in the vehicle construction industry before moving to Los Angeles and later Düsseldorf for his musical studies (P. I. T.).
Bora not only plays bass but also has a professional education in vocals and plays the guitar and drums.
Thilo has a professional education in keys and organ.
Matze is a certified electronic engineer also educated in the commercial area. Later he studied in the industrial economics field.
Mike is an educated commercial clerk.
Heli originally had worked as a mechanic in the agricultural area. In his childhood years he had learned how to play accordion and bass. He also is educated in vocals.

Music has always been a great passion and plays big part in all of their lives.
