Wacken Open Air 2016 - Ban Backpacks And Bags
Wacken Open Air 2016 will tighten the security measures in the wake of the recent terrorist attacks in Germany, including a July 24th suicide bomber at an Ansbach music festival. Due to security concerns, all backpacks and bags are banned from the event area. This year, 1349, Alcest, Arch Enemy, Blind Guardian, Equilibrium, Ihsahn, Iron Maiden, Marduk, Testament, Triptykon, just to name a few, will perform at the festival this summer. Some 80,000 metal fans will be heading to Wacken Open Air next week.

Inquisition - Third New Track Released
Recently, the black metal duo Inquisition unveiled the crushing third song taken from their forthcoming full-length, Bloodshed Across The Empyrean Altar Beyond The Celestial Zenith. Soon to be released via Season of Mist on August 26th, the album will feature 13 tracks. "Vortex From The Celestial Flying Throne Of Storms" is one of them and you can see if you like it or not after you listen to it here.

Evildead - Working On New Album
Thrashers Evildead (featuring members of Agent Steel and Abattoir) posted a picture on their Facebook page of guitarists Juan Garcia and Albert Gonzales jamming together, with the caption reading "It's happening". This indicates that the band has started working on what will be their first full-length studio album since 1991's The Underworld.

Coroner - Releasing New Album In 2017
Maybe you didn't think it would happen, but indeed a new Coroner album is in the works to be released in 2017! Two years ago, the Swiss technical thrashers announced new drummer Diego Rapacchietti and now the comeback of the year is happening. Coroner - in the current line-up of Tommy Vetterli (guitar), Diego Rapacchietti (drums) and Ron Broder (bass/vocals) - are back in the studio! This three-man band made a name for itself in the music scene with its discerning brand of technical thrash metal. Now, 23 long years after the band's last album release (Grin, 1993), Coroner has announced plans to release a new studio album with Sony Music and Century Media Records.

Alcest - To Release 'Kodama' Album In September
The French duo Alcest will release their new and fifth album Kodama on September 30th, 2016 via Prophecy Productions, it was just announced. The band has also revealed the album's cover artwork and song titles. "Kodama" is the Japanese word for both "tree spirit" and "echo". The artwork has been done by the French duo Førtifem.
