Hexfire - Ancient/DoomSword Drummer To Make Guest Appearance On Debut

Diego "Grom" Meraviglia, former drummer of Norwegian Melodic Black metal band Ancient and Italian Doom band DoomSword, has provided ear-shattering drumming for a track on the new Hexfire album. The recording session took place in Valencia (CA) with engineer Steven Leavitt. A few pics of the recording can be found here.

The band says: "Grom is an amazing drummer. We wanted him to record the fastest song from our forthcoming album because we were sure that he was the only man who could do the job perfectly! His style is exactly what we were looking for. That's why we asked him to record a song for us and he agreed! It's just amazing! We're so proud!"

Recently, Hexfire also tapped renowned metal drummer Alex Holzwarth (Rhapsody Of Fire, Avantasia, Dol Ammad) to help bring some of the tracks to life, while Jonno Lodge (Biomechanical) will perform the rest of the drums.

Detonation - New (Ancient) Track On-line

But in fact it's the oldest recording we could find . Through the Eyes of God" was recorded in the summer of 1998, when we were stilled called "Infernal Dream" and obviously much more influenced by black metal bands. The quality is pretty poor but we think it's very cool nevertheless, demonstrating how fucking "true" we were back then Check it out, it's the fifth song in our player on our MySpace profile!

Ancient Rites - Sign To Season Of Mist

Belgian Black Metal pioneers Ancient Rites are heading back to the studio to record their long awaited follow-up to 2001's "Dim Carcosa".

"They are also pleased to announce that Ancient Rites have found a new record label in Season of Mist, also the home of bands like the legendary Mayhem, Rotting Christ and Arcturus. Needless to say the band is really happy with both the new label and heading back to the Spacelab studio in Germany."

Ancient Rites started recording the new album on November 21st, 2005, under the guidance and supervision of veteran AR producers Oliver Phillips and Christian Moos.

The album will most likely be released before the summer of 2006, after which Ancient Rites, now a septet since the return of former members Domingo Smets and Raf Jansen last year, will once again play live to spread their new music. Concerts all over Europe and the U.K. are being negotiated and arranged as we speak, so expect the band to be out there in full blast next year.

Ancient Ceremony vs the Catholic Church

The Catholic church's lawsuit against ANCIENT CEREMONY founder/vocalist Chris Anderle over a series of "blasphemous" photos posted on the German black metal band's web site has been given a new court date: May 26 at Landgericht Trier. Lawyers for both parties are currently working towards a possible out-of-court settlement.

The band are said to be "rather pissed off with this soap opera", and are concentrating on finishing up their new mini CD, "P.uritan's B.lasphemy C.all (Ruf-Mord)" . The highly controversial album, which is being observed by the German censorship authorities even before its release, is tentatively scheduled for release in June on Irond Records. A full-scale European tour will follow.
