Korpiklaani - New Album Details Revealed
Original news, posted on 24.01.2009
Finnish Pelimanni-Metallers Korpiklaani have issued the following update: "In 2008 we have been quite busy. We have had two successful tours: the Paganfest Tour and the Finnish Fire Tour. We recorded and released our fifth album "Korven Kuningas". In the whole we played over 80 gigs, that means about one gig in every four days. We had a lot of fun, met many old friends and made new ones. So, this has been a pretty good year for us. 2009 promises to become even better; a long cherished dream of us becomes fulfilled: we will tour the USA and Canada in Paganfest 2! We are invited for Wacken Open Air on their 20th anniversary festival, and many more gigs are in the works. In February we will enter the studio again, to record a brand new album. These last days of 2008, we will make a small tour with In Extremo in Germany, and end the year in Nosturi, Helsinki, on a new year's celebration concert with our friends from Moonsorrow and Kiuas. We wish you all a happy new year and hope to see you around somewhere."
The new Korpiklaani album is due early summer this year and it will be entitled "Karkelo" ("Party" in English).
Furthermore, some of the band's songs appear in the new Bam Margera movie. You can see a few clips here (Reindeer cock and reindeer's eye ball eating), and more here and here ("Viima" starting 4:50min).
UPDATED, on 10.04.2009 (thanks to 32451)
You can view the cover artwork for the new Korpiklaani album "Karkelo" (release date June 26th) at this location. The "Karkelo" cover art was designed by Jan "Örkki" Yrlund again.
UPDATE (thanks to 27456 and 33399)
As stated by the band: "Time to reveal the tracklist of our upcoming album "Karkelo" (release date June 26th)! But before we do, we have some other hot news for you. On May 25th we will release a single titled "Vodka", on which will be two songs that will absolutely boost every party: "Vodka" and "Juodaan Viinaa"! And even better, this single will also appear as picture vinyl. "Karkelo" will appear as audio cd, as digipack and as picture vinyl."

Korpiklaani - Japanese Bonus Track Online
The Japanese bonus track from the latest album "Korven Kuningas" called "Kipakka" is now available for streaming online over at the official Korpiklaani MySpace.
A comment from the band reads as follows: "We got several requests to put our instrumental "Kipakka" on our MySpace, since this bonustrack only appears on our Japanese albums. Finally the message came through the misty haze caused by all beers, and here it is! And in the process we got the right mood and also replaced "Northern Fall" by "Metsämies". There we stopped to take another beer, and well, the mood was so cool that we forgot about replacing the rest."

Korpiklaani - Yet Another New Album In The Works
On their MySpace blog, the Finnish Folk Metal band posted the following message:
"We have been in the studio again every now and then since last spring, and we have more material ready than is needed for an entire album. It is already mixed and ready.
The album became quite long, but we just could not drop any of the 14 songs. It was already hard to decide which songs would become bonus tracks.
So, we offer to you 14 new songs plus 2 bonus tracks on our upcoming album "Korven Kuningas", which means 'King of the Woods'
This time the album cover will be painted, not photoshopped. The old man "Vaari" will be figuring on the cover again, so it will look familiar and faithful to everyone, even though a different technique is used."
The album will be released by Nuclear Blast early in 2008.

Korpiklaani - Sign With Nuclear Blast
The following news has been posted on Nuclear Blast site:
The Finnish Folk-Metal tribe of Korpiklaani are the latest addition to the Nuclear Blast familiy! The guys have signed a worldwide contract and we are all looking forward to the upcoming releases of this outstanding band. The six guys coming directly from the woods have issued the following statement about this joyful occasion:
"Once upon a time were the merry men of Korpiklaani on a tour somewhere in Europe, drinking beer in the bus on the road from here to there. Between the beers there was also some talk about our future. On the small bus table, half hidden under the dog-eared deck of cards, coins and empty bottles, there was a Blast! magazine. This catalogue of Nuclear Blast had seen better days. It had already served as a beermat, ashtray and toilet entertainment, even though the language was totally incomprehensible to us.
Our highly intelligent conversation moved to record companies and we started to wonder which one of them would be the best for us. Jonne happened to set his bleary eyes on the scruffy magazine and asked if anyone knew any band that had left Nuclear Blast. There was a silence.
No one knew and we saw that it was good. That's when we first got the idea that Nuclear Blast would actually be a great company for us as well. It must be a good home for bands because no one ever leaves. The idea of us and them still felt distant and unrealistic.
As the time passed, our small and ugly Folk Metal band gained more success, slowly but steadily, and played more and more concerts. And behold, one day we got a word from our own chargé d'affaires, Matte, that one of the best is interested in us, Nuclear Blast.
Our first meeting was in Germany, the land of... eh... well, Germans. We were prepared to meet bald, fat businessmen in their black three-piece suits with briefcases full of contract papers. We couldn't find any. Instead of that there some smiling folkmetal loving fellows with pints in their hands. And then we heard the magic words: "You guys want some beer?"
