Týr will be joining the Finns on a trek which will take place next February/March plus special guests to be announced. Both bands have new albums to showcase. Apparently Týr is not the kind of band who likes letting fans struggle waiting for news and giving them bite for bite. Suddenly, the band revealed what will be the name and the artwork of their upcoming album, which will be released on September 17th and will be the first under Metal Blade Records. The album will be entitled Valkyrja, and the cover can be seen below. To give a taste of what the album will sound like, the band is also streaming a new song, "Blood Of Heroes", via both Soundcloud and YouTube. Basically, it is a good day for Týr fans. Recently, Týr revealed that they had parted ways with former drummer Kári Streymoy and promised a surprise studio fill in drummer. They have kept their promise and while they are recording their new album with producer Jacob Hansen (Volbeat, Aborted, Mercenary) at his studios in Denmark, the folk metallers have enlisted the services of George Kollias to track the drum parts, primarily known for his work in Nile, as well as Nightfall. A video featuring drum tracking highlights, as well as a short message from Kollias can be seen below.

In March, Faroe Islands epic folk metallers Týr announced that they would start recording their new album this month and now the band confirmed that Leaves' Eyes singer Liv Kristine is joining them for a duet on the song "The Lay Of Our Love" on their upcoming album (title still to be revealed), set to be released this fall. According to Liv, the track has "inspiring melodies and lyrics, proving the authenticity of Týr." This guest appearance makes sense since the new album will be about women.

Faroe Islands' epic metallers Týr will embark on a European tour later this year. The tour will also feature Finnish viking/folk metallers Moonsorrow, while the opening support slot will be filled by Finnish symphonic folk metallers Crimfall. The Lay Of Thrym, the new album from Viking metal band Týr, will be released on May 27th through Napalm Records.

The story of King Thrym, who dared steal Thor´s hammer "Mjollnir", may set the lyrical stage on Týr's latest album, but it does not prevent them from covering more current topics like in the track "Shadow of the Swastika". The Lay of Thrym follows the path of the band's previous releases by uniting classic heavy metal riffs with impressive drumming, traditional melodies, and powerful choruses. The result is a number of epic anthems, such as "Take Your TÝRant" and "Hall of Freedom", both of which will most certainly earn a permanent spot on Týr's future setlists.

Frontman Heri Joensen continues to give Týr a unique and unmistakable edge with magnificent vocals and superb guitar work. Jacob Hansen was again responsible for recording, mixing, and mastering the album, complementing this fascinating Faeroese sound universe with finishing touches that allow every last detail to shine.

The Lay of Thrym is a genuine Viking metal album that will undoubtedly secure Týr's hold on this genre with its heroic melodies and glorious riffs.
