Falkenbach - Sign With Prophecy Productions

Official press release

When talking about the origins of heathen Metal from Germany, one name invariably is mentioned: Falkenbach. Going for over twenty years, this project by Vratyas Vakyas is considered as a trailblazer and prime mover of a musical style that perfectly combines epic heroism and Germanic mythology, Norse-tinged folklore and metallic aggression - and all that far beyond the well-worn clichés of the so-called "Pagan Metal scene."

Enslaved - Set To Release New Vinyl EP

Soulseller Records is loudly presenting an exclusive and limited 7 inch EP vinyl by the legendary Enslaved, due in late August/early September.

The mythological universe of Enslaved is full of references to the timeless concepts of ones word and the strength of bonds. About a decade ago, a pact between Enslaved and Soulseller Records were made to do a strictly limited 7 inch release with exclusive Enslaved material. The whole agreement was based on both parties love for vinyl and the old ways of the Extreme Metal scene. Well, shortly after the pact was made, Enslaved's career accelerated a lot, and the Enslaved/Soulseller deal kept having to wait for the next recording, promo trip or tour. Well, finally it was realized that things were never going to slow down (which is good news!), and that the time was right to do it! That Enslaved's present record label Indie Recordings respected the agreement without hesitation only adds to the air of genuine musical and artistic values that surrounds this release.

The result is the 7 inch vinyl enitled Thorn; consisting of the songs "Disintegrator" and "Striker", pressed in a strictly limited number of 1000 copies. The songs are eerie and atmospheric, with nods both back towards Enslaved's edgier-monotonous past and dark-psychedelic present.

The 7 inch is produced by Enslaved's own Ivar Bjørnson and Iver Sandøy (who the band has worked with since last years Axioma Ethica Odini).

(Also thanks to 108170 for sending this in!)

Den Saakaldte - Sign With Agonia Records

Norwegian black metallers Den Saakaldte, who recently parted ways with Pulverised Records to get a new label closer to their home country, have now inked a deal with Agonia Records from Poland.

Den Saakaldte guitarist Sykelig commented on the events as follows: "Many dramatic changes occured during the last one year in Den Saakaldte's reality. When Niklas Kvarforth decided no longer to continue with the band, many things passed from our minds... even just dropping the whole damn thing off.

After the band discussing and coming to the conclusion that all the members wanted Den Saakaldte to continue being active as a way of artistic expression but also as in a lifestyle attitude for us, we decided that certain things had to be put down and start all over again.

Agonia Records that has been following our ways and sharing our ideas on how things should be, gave us the opportunity to built the foundations for Kapittel II: Faen I Helvete on solid ground. Filip showed to us with quite devotion, the how much he wanted the band in Agonia Records' roster. We are looking forward to start with the recordings and we are even more excited to hear soundscapes, having now Mr Hægeland as frontman.

The future looks dark ...and quite much pissed off."

Before The Dawn - Announce Lineup Changes

According to an update on the band website, Finnish melodic death metallers Before The Dawn will break up after their performance on June 25th at the Nummirock Festival, only to re-group for 1 month and come back on stage stronger than ever at the Tuska Open Air afterparty on July 24th.

Formed in 1999, Before The Dawn has reached a crossroad after 6 full-lengths, numerous tours and gigs in over 20 countries and several label changes that lead the band under the mighty wings of Nuclear Blast at the end of 2010. The past few years have been difficult for the band in many ways and in the end there were only 2 ways to go; bury the band or continue thru big changes in line-up and eventually in the music too.

Nightwish - Album Ready To Be Mastered

Nightwish keyboardist and main composer Tuomas Holopainen recently issued the following update regarding the forthcoming album Imaginarium, slated for an early 2012 release:

"After three years of brainstorming and songwriting, over a year of rehearsing, arranging and studio work, this triumph of musical passion and piety is finally ready to be mastered. Yesterday, after a six-week mixing session in Studio C at Finnvox, I listened the whole thing from start to finish alone for the first time, and couldn't make heads nor tails of it. It's the same old story - the same feeling of bottomless emptiness that has marked the completion of all previous albums.

We could have honed the songs till Armageddon, but at some point you just have to let go and start admiring the scenery. This time, the landscape consists of 13 songs totalling 75 minutes. I think I'll probably be able to savour the end result only after a couple of months of mixing detox, but the encouraging comments by those near to me assure that it is a decent album. One person who heard Imaginarium called it "the greatest adventure he ever heard with his two ears".
