Former Nightwish singer Tarja will release her new album Colours In The Dark in Europe on August 23rd via earMUSIC and the album will be made available in North America on August 27th through Eagle Rock imprint Armoury Records. The new release is the successor to What Lies Beneath (2010) and we begin to know more about it as the cover artwork created by Dirk Rudolph has been unveiled and can now be seen below.

Other details revealed so far are some of the song titles such as "Until Silence" and "Deliverance" and Colours In The Dark was mixed and mastered by Tim Palmer in Austin, Texas (Pearl Jam, U2). More should be unveiled soon.

OMG, what the hell is that? I wanna tear my eyes out O.o
Syk - 17.05.2013 at 12:39
Makes me wanna play Tekken 4, personally... oh, now I notice the sitters around her. Now I feel like Indian[-inspired] music, circa 1970
Blasphemer1992 - 17.05.2013 at 12:47
Omg this cover looks shity !
Ismarmlp - 17.05.2013 at 12:58
Artwork ugly, but I want it!
R'Vannith - 17.05.2013 at 13:49
Not really interested in the music but I like that cover.
Ap46 - 17.05.2013 at 15:36
I do like the cover a lot. The first impression was so shitty, but, the more i look, the more i think it's all done in porpouse. She tried to stay out from the conventional covers of Sympho. I like it.
Azarath - 17.05.2013 at 15:41
Now that's a cover. And not a good one.
Thrashette - 17.05.2013 at 16:39
I can't even find the words to describe this... I'm curious about the music, but the cover looks like it was thought up by a 14-year old on shrooms
Slyfang - 17.05.2013 at 16:53
Awesome cover. Got tired of the same old gothic crap years ago.

The cover... it seems it has something to say,
although I don't like Tarja previous records... even a bit.
Dark†SymphonY - 17.05.2013 at 17:36
Wasn't expecting a album cover like that, really don't know what to think. Quite interesting to say that least.

It kind of looks like the cover painting of some prog band from the 70´s. I don´t like it. I hope the music is better than the album cover. :-)

Does anyone know it there´s any samples available yet?
Unhealer - 17.05.2013 at 19:52
My eyes... they hurt. Now that I read the comments... it's true it's a good idea to step away from the stereotype and I have no problem with the "concept" of the cover, but it's still disgusting.
Opethian - 17.05.2013 at 20:38
Nice cover Tarja
SceneryOfLoss - 17.05.2013 at 21:10
Worst cover ever.
Mad Arab666 - 17.05.2013 at 21:58
Well the cover art is unique, I'll give it that.
AeonGio - 17.05.2013 at 22:09
Horrible, horrible, horrible artwork... Hope the music doesn't match the cover!
Susan - 18.05.2013 at 10:03
Love her and her music but OH DEAR that's an awful cover. Perhaps this may have worked as an interior photo in the booklet but the cover? No...
Rhiannon - 18.05.2013 at 12:29
I agree with the others, this cover is ridiculous
Nemo Atkins - 18.05.2013 at 14:36
I have a feeling this is one of those covers that would make more sense if you were high.

Seriously, this cover makes me think of the Beatles film "Yellow Submarine" for some reason...
CaLu - 18.05.2013 at 21:04
Has Tarja been listening to Pink Floyds 'The Wall' when being high or something.... The cover art is most certainly remarkable, but likeable. Now I'm getting curious about the music on it!!!
Delamortia - 19.05.2013 at 16:58
Not a fan of the artwork (looks like a super amateur photoshop product) but super curious about the music *fangirling*
Windrider - 20.05.2013 at 15:41
Holy shit is this shit...
Nimue - 22.05.2013 at 05:54
Not really works as a good cover. Too much space above Tarja and very lousy work. Fill the space in the left and the right top corners, maybe it will work that way, but not exactly the color scheme what I would use. Red and such vivid colors work must be used carefully with definition and preciosity. This is too much.

Wouldn't be so shitty, if they would fill up the gaps. The art work isn't so bad.

But this is my few cents as a graphic designer.

More interested in the music.
