White Empress - Paul Allender's New Band Releasing Debut Album

Formed by guitarist Paul Allender (previously of Cradle Of Filth), White Empress debut full-length album, titled Rise Of The Empress, is set for release on Peaceville Records on September 29th. The album was recorded in their studio and has been mixed and mastered by veteran producer, Kit Woolven (Thin Lizzy, Cradle Of Filth). You can hear what the band has to offer by watching their video for the track "Darkness Encroaching" below.

Paul Allender says: "White Empress is the link the music scene has been so desperately missing. The band started writing together two years ago, and have slowly crafted the sound that is White Empress. White Empress has all the best parts of the metal scene rolled up into one band. The music is hard, but emotive. White Empress' unique style and sound is bringing fresh life to the music scene that it's been crying out for."

When Paul relocated to the USA in 2012, in between working with Cradle Of Filth, he decided to start work on another project with local musicians in his newly adopted home of Minneapolis, and with his friend, Martin Skaroupka from Cradle Of Filth, this soon became White Empress.

White Empress comprise: Paul Allender, formerly the main guitarist and songwriter in Cradle Of Filth, vocalist Mary Zimmer from Luna Mortis (and a vocal coach), Will Graney, keyboardist from Damnation Angels, Chela Harper, bass player for Coal Chamber, guitarist Jeremy Kohnmann from The Awakening, and drummer Zac Morris, who's played with many bands including Ugly Kid Joe.

The debut album is also set to be available through Pledge with pledgers able to download a track from Rise Of The Empress and listen to samples of other tracks as well.

Humm don't really know what to think about this : the technolike intro sucks, the rest is pretty ok even tho it's not a instant coup de coeur. Anyway it shows, if needed, that nothing new should be expected from CoF... Time for change !

Hellooooooooooo,

Where did I say this was CoF ? What I meant is that with Paul Allender quitting CoF (and also their lack of communication over the last months) it shows that CoF is going down. Not sayng this band will be a new CoF tho.

No offence By the way if you know a band similar to CoF or Dimmu Borgir (bands from which I'm not expecting anything anymore), please let me know !

The only band as far as I remember that was in the line with those two (from their best days) was Anorexia Nervosa...hell, they were imo even better than COF and DB from golden days, but unfortunately, they're on a hiatus since 2005/6 if I remember correctly...oh well, looks like this Symphonic Black Metal is indeed dead lately....

and this band sucks of course....bad production, bad vocal, mediocre songwriting...

For whatever reasons he left COF. MS is damn late on this. Hes been promoting his new band for sometime now on Facebook This isn't Light years ahead of what hes been doing with COF, but its a step in the right direction. Wish you the best Paul! Reminds me of 'The Kovenant'

I must've watched a different vid? Liked the song first listen. Quite a vocal performance from Mary Zimmer and and one hell of a lineup behind her. Couldn't care less about "production" Seems it did what it was supposed to, introduced the band members and went with the flow of the music OK.
Only recently saw that Paul Allender had left CoF and wondered what he was up to though never guessed he would get a band as good as this together! Well done sir

"White Empress has all the best parts of the metal scene rolled up into one band". Now that it's rolled, it shout be put on fire but certainly not smoked. And that cover is very representative of the quality of the song I had to endure.

Oh, Paul. I understand trying to promote your band and everything, but that was just way too much.

Anyway, the song sounds like a modern CoF's unreleased B-side with shitty vocals. If that's the best the album has to offer, I'll regretfully pass.

It's funny what people will say to promote their new bands... "the link the music scene has been so desperately missing"
Even though the song isn't completely hopeless, it's far from being great. Doesn't make me wait for a full length anyway.
