Sólstafir - Announce Replacement For Drummer On Upcoming Shows

The Icelanders Sólstafir announced that their drummer Guðmundur "Gummi" Óli Pálmason will not be performing during their upcoming European shows. He will be replaced by Karl Petur Smith during this period.

But was it just that? Oddly, the band's Twitter account had this message posted today reportedly by drummer Guðmundur Óli Pálmason: "W my x-bndmates cant man up to say: After 20yr of pouring my blood sweat n tears into this band I have been thrown out of my life's work. GOP." However, this wasn't confirmed by the band. So, the doubt remains. Is Guðmundur Óli Pálmason just sitting out some shows? Maybe there is a reasonable explanation for this.

The band released this statement: "Today we're in Milton Keynes ready to kick off the second leg of our European tour. It is with great sadness that we need to report to you that Gummi will not be joining us on this tour due to personal reasons. We'd prefer to leave it at that and ask that you please respect our privacy in this matter and refrain from all questions, speculations and internet rumors. We will follow up when the time is right, but for now, we're very excited to have a brilliant drummer by the name of Karl Petur Smith joining us for these shows. His extensive musical background includes playing with such acts as Rusty Anderson, Jason Falkner and Bubbi Morthens. Can't wait to see all of your faces out there!"

København can't be used in English and all the other city names on that list are in English (Moscow, first one to springs to mind)

I don't agree with K7 too often but here I agree that the English spelling should be used for consistency's sake.

According to Pálmason himself, he is no longer a member of the band. He is also accusing his supposedly former bandmates of stonewalling.

Potential drama of the year.

Which sucks big time too, eh. His drumming was a big part of Sólstafir's sound I think.

I couldn't agree more with you here, I think the drummers can play a huge role in how a band evolves.
