Iron Maiden have been nominated for Best live act by the Brit Awards, who for once in their miserable existence seem to have gotten something right since Maiden are in fact one of the best live acts around, certainly miles better than any of their competition in this contest.

Voting is open for a very limited time at http://www.brits.co.uk/vote/, and it appears that it is open to people from outside the UK as well. You know that Maiden deserve to win. It would be really cool if enough people voted for them so that they do. Coldplay probably already think that they are going to win, it would be great if they didn't.

Really? That album seems a bit lackluster to me. I think I like Killers, Wrathchild (who doesn't like that one?), and Purgatory... that's about it. Murders in the Rue Morgue is good too, I guess.

it's a very unusual Maiden track, the clean guitars are really good and the bass work is really atmospheric and shit. it's also got some cool rhythm changes(kind of like Remember Tomorrow, or maybe like every track in their first 2 albums lol)... gotta love it

Of course Iron Maiden are by miles and miles the best live act out of those nominated. But the result surprises me since everyone thinks Coldplay is brilliant live and on cd/vinyl (of course all people with ears on their head knwo they are the most boring live and studio act ever)
Btw, is it fans voting for the Brit awards? Or is it a so-called professional jury awarding the awards?

For most of the categories the voting is by a panel of "experts" (experts on what? it certainly isn't music), but the best live act category was voted for by the fans. Bruce had a sly little dig at that in his acceptance speech.

I wonder of the list of places that they were playing that he reeled off was a dig at how international their fanbase compared to most of the other not-heard-of-at-all-outside-Britain nobodies in attendance that night.

Not surprising really since they were one-album wonders who's popularity was based on one hit single who's main hook was plagarised from The Rolling Stones, overhyped talentless nobodies, and Snoreplay are exactly as you describe them. None of them are fit to lick Maiden's boots.

Absolutely. Maiden have always toured heavily and worked incredibly hard on stage, so Bruce was quite entitled to get a few digs in! I didn't recognise a couple of the nominated bands, so it's great to see a band who tours so extensively across the globe with a massive, devoted fanbase get a bit of mainstream recognition. Great stuff!

well he is a treat to watch, lol. besides Bruce he is the most energetic guy on the stage. plus he does the fake guitar throwaway but yeah they should leave the songs as they were, with each guy's solo.
