Hi,

First things first: my ghost will haunt at the person who votes for option number 9.

Jokes apart, this band is my ever favourite. And it will be entertaining for you pondering about which album do you like best. This poll came to my mind because in the last 20 years I have thought about which one is my favourite album from these seven and I have not come to a conclussion yet. My favourite songs are both from The Number of the Beast, but there are some tracks that I do not like in the album. I would choose between Piece of Mind, Powerslave or Somewhere in time and I can,t decide.
There is a previous poll about Iron Maiden nineties albums and I have not found something similar for the Golden Age so I am posting here the first part.

Poll

Which Iron Maiden album do you prefer before "No prayer for the dying"

Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son
30
Powerslave
22
All of them
20
The Number Of The Beast
17
Somewhere In Time
12
Iron Maiden
8
Killers
7
Piece Of Mind
5
None of them
2

Total votes: 123

Powerslave for me.
Solid album, I can NEVER get bored of it.
The riffs are fun to play, and the solos are just drool worthy

I love every one of these albums, I play them all the time. No artist was better in the 80's in my opinion. So I could not choose just one, I had to pick em all.

Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son has the worst Maiden song ever...

Most people would disagree here and say that No Prayer For The Dying has the worst Maiden song ever. By far their crappiest song is Bring Your Daughter To The Slaughter.

hahah, i guess he was talking about "Can i Play With Madness", but i think "Bring Your Daughter" is a fun song, might not be "Phantom of the Opera" but it's decent i guess. can't say which of their songs is worst but there's a few i'm not really fond of

Powerslave is awesome through and through. It's the best one, closely followed by Killers.

Seventh Son is good, but it's not some sort of sublime masterpiece like other people says it is. It's just Maiden experimenting a bit and fooling around with the songwriting, making a really good album in the process. Just because it's different doesn't mean it's the best though. That spot is reserved for Powerslave with Killers as a close second.

I would like to add that voting for all of them was way too lame for me to do that, as it's pretty obvious that's the pure uncontested truth, thus making the poll unneccisary. After all, Iron Maiden>God.

Yep, of course I heard those songs, but they don't even come close to the crapiness of the atrocity called Bring Your Dughter To The SLaughter.

I'd say he's probably referring to "Can I Play With Madness?".

That's usually the one people hate the most.

BRING YA DAUGHTER BRING YA DAUGHTER TO THE SLAUGHTER, LET HER GO LET HER GO LET HER GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, thanks everybody for posting. You have all quite interesting points of view.
Referring to the posts about crappy Iron Maiden songs...well...Weekend Warrior, The Angel and the Gambler and some else from Fear of the Dark or Virtual XI are the worst for me. Bring your daughter is o.k. and it is really good on live as I mentioned earlier; Can I play is o.k., a bit commercial but o.k.

"Seventh Son" is quite valued in this webpage and I think it deserves it. Almost every song in the album is fantastic, however it kind of lost the energy released in their previous works. I remember that it was quite underrated when it was released and I used to laugh at my friends fans of Iron Maiden about the commercialism implicit in the album, though I can see that commercialism so clear today and I love the album, but...it is not Powerslave or Piece of Mind or Somewhere in Time IMO. I have to say that at that time my favourite band was Helloween, all my friends were fans of Iron Maiden except two of them that liked Metallica the most. I have always like argueing and picking on, so "Seventh Son", "No Prayer" and "...And Justice for All" were subject to my twisted furious comments, as all these albums kind of moved from the usual style of both bands.

To me at least, it sounded like left over live material from the first period of Iron Maiden. Which is allright, but it just sounded the same.

This is one thread I wish I could have more than one vote, becuase through this entire era Maiden produced some of the best music of metals short history.
Anyway here would be my top 3 from early Maiden
1 - Somewhere in Time
2 - Piece of Mind
3 - Seventh Son of a Seventh Son

For me, Somewhere in Time is the apex of Iron Maidens discography. Perfect studio production, finally the use of some synths, and a track list of songs about everything to anything all over the map.

Good point. I want to say that unlike trash/thrash, it's unlikely to mistake Guthenberg with anything else than Gothenberg.

Also I should use this opportunity and say, isn't trash metal that genre with a lot of breakdowns and annyoing squeals?

Btw it's GothenbUrg not GothenbErg

As for the second part of your post that could also refer to actual thrash since that also has a shitload of breakdown (so-called mosh parts back in the day) and quite a few bands have annoying squeals there as well

As for the city name, how would you like it if someone said you were from Uslu and that a lot of black metal bands are from Burgen?
