Ok, so there I was watching Slayer's Still Reigning DVD and I thought: "I saw them live twice already. I wonder who has seen them 10 times".

I'm just curious. Who is the ultimate concert geek? Who goes to every concert of their favourite band? How many times have you seen your favourite bands play? Or other bands?

I'm not a great example, I saw both Slayer and Metallica twice, that's my poor record. Actually, I saw a number of bands twice. Hopefully that will change over the years.

Let's hear it, fanatics.

If I could I would go to every concert of every band that I love, it's just that no one comes to Israel. And I'm too broke to travel abroad all the time.

Bands I've seen more than twice:
3 Inches Of Blood (3 Times)
.....Hmm, maybe I should try and match Marcel and try to see 3 Inches like 40 times, I'll probably be able to hit that in like 2 years.

yeah, they tour canada like a mother fucker.

Well, they just announced a brand-spanking new tour (if you haven't seen/heard about it already) and they'll be touring Washington, Oregon, California, Nevada, and Alaska (<-Wtf?), skipping Calgary for the first time ever. Its a shame, as soon as I start really getting into them the tour here less frequently- Dont know what you got until its gone I guess.

There's a lot of bands I've seen between 2 and four times, but I believe the band I've seen the most is Therion (8 times - 3 times in 2007 only), and then Gojira and Opeth (5 times each). I'll see Gojira again in February, so that will make 6.

Interesting topic. I actually had to go and look in my personal archives to count which bands were in my top list. I know what my top three were, but wanted to list my top five. So here they are:

#1 - The Electric Ghost Collective - 32 times
#2 - Carbon Leaf - 12 times
#3 - Dream Theater/James LaBrie - 8 times
#4 - Opeth - 4 times
#5 - Sleepytime Gorilla Museum - 3 times

(7) Electro Quarterstaff
(3) Malefaction
(3) Cannibal Corpse
(3) Fuck The Facts
(3) Of Human Bondage
...and a bunch twice. And I'd be glad to see all those bands a fourth time. Electro Quarterstaff were a bit less engaging some of the last few times but I'm sure I'll be seeing them again (and again).

I just remembered I saw Moonspell twice too. It's important because they are great live.

But it's not extraordinary because they are Portuguese and tour here a lot. I saw them twice in a year, one time during summer festivals and one time during winter already.

I saw Moonspell about... hm... I don't know, 8-9 times in 7 years, or so. But that's because they always manage to play near me at least once a year. I wouldn't travel long miles to see (only) them.

I saw Cradle of Filth 4 times... and that's about it.

Not much of a geek.

Saw them 4 times and they certainly kicked ass every single time. Great Belgium TRUE classic grindcore band. Shame about the guy who took his own life.

Arsonist and Deeptrip both 5 times, both not widely-known Swiss bands, the first one from my city the second a bit further off
and Arsonist called it quits by now anyway

Next up is Darkmoon and Eluveitie (definitely wouldnt want to see them again, i only saw them four times because they play fucking everywhere around here) with 4 times and a few 3s and a lot of 2s

Does that DVD come with the latest live CD or is it a completely different release? Thats a performance I wouldn't mind watching again....albeit in a less exciting atmosphere.

Beneath the Massacre - 11 times
Haha the band I've seen most isn't even one of my favourite bands they just seem to open for fucking everyone around here and it's getting fucking redic. so I've seen them 11 times now and there pretty sick live though so I guess it's alright. I know now that Dystopia's out they're probably going to end up playing another good tour around here and i'll probably end up seeing them again.
The band I've went to see the most times though is Megadeth I've seen them 4 times now.

Opeth - 2 (Opeth are amazing live and I will aim to see them every time they are in Australia)

Dream Theater - 2 (Another band that are outstanding live, I would certainly like to see them again)

Megadeth - 2 (Both time were well worth going, Dave Mustaine certainly knows how to rock)

Holy crap...I am the biggest concert geek...I actually keep a tally of who I have seen and how many times I've seen them.

Metallica - 4 (seeing them again on Sunday!)
Slayer - 7
Black Label Society - 5
Black Sabbath - 4
In Flames - 5
Soilwork - 4
Dying Fetus - 4
Misery Index - 5
Goatwhore - 4
Hypocrisy - 4
Children of Bodom - 6
Behemoth - 8
Withered - 12
Dimmu Borgir - 6
Lamb of God - 4
Devil Driver - 4
Cannibal Corpse - 5
Legions of Astaroth - 4
Daath - 4
Napalm Death - 6
Krisiun - 4

there are countless others I have seen 2 or 3 times...I'm not listing those because this list would be really long so I only put who I have seen at least 4 times!

In case you were wondering, I have seen 474 bands...

Månegarm (both times during the same week)

I am so jealous! I freakin love that band but they haven't come here yet. There's alot of folk-ish metal bands I haven't seen yet...I few of them are finally coming through my city in November yay!

You're not the only geek who keeps a tally. So far I've seen a total of 577 performances at 63 concerts and 29 festivals by 407 different bands (gonna make that a 411 tomorrow). The bands I've seen most often are:

7 times: Thorn.Eleven (local alt. rock band)
6 times: Ensiferum, Primordial
5 times: Korpiklaani, Letzte Instanz, Wolfchant
4 times: Amon Amarth, Dornenreich, Dreamreaver (another local band), Eluveitie, Equilibrium, Finntroll, Finsterforst, Fjoergyn, Gernotshagen, Negură Bunget, SuidAkrA, Týr
