Bongripper's Hippie Killer is pretty sweet.
Lento is releasing new material just now. They're instrumental.
Tephra are also cool and just about to realease an album too (if they already didn't).
Ufomammut obviously, anything from Snailking to Eve is nice.
Kollwitz are more like straight sludge, but they have their prettiness too.
Pelican are legendary, but I guess they're too well-known for this topic.
Solstafír are an Icelandic group who play pretty unique post-metal, not very sludgy at all.
Russian Circles are actually a post-rock band, but they're on the heavier end of the scale and will probably appeal to many people here.

I guess Godflesh and Jesu are known to anyone into alternative metal, so I won't go there. For simple sludge, the MS Awards nominees Dukatalon are great, and Black Cobra are cool too. For raw, sludgy post-hardcore try the French band Celeste.

Also, the stuff WingedOctopi posted is pretty good.

Yes, more music for me to uncover! Give that Abraham album a try...woa

Been a while. Let's start off this update with some Croatian instrumental post metal in vein of Pelican. Apparently the Croatian scene is bursting with a ton of this stuff.

One of my favourite releases of the year...instrumental atmospheric post-metal/sludge. Makes it nice ambient with somehow captivating and profound sound.

Don Caballero (really wacky instrumental post-rock, not necessarily displayed on this song):

This is off their first album. Take a look into their works and you'll see what I mean by wacky. I guess they would be more accurately labeled as experimental/avant-garde but there is that post-rock flavor as well.

Polvo (this is a shot in the dark but I think some of you might like this):

Take a look at this. Their second album, released in 2007, fell into my hands today. Post prog rock/metal/hardcore & ambient. Beautiful, menacing, refreshing:

Didn't like the first teaser. It's along the lines of BitterCold's statement : SSDB (same shit different band)
I did like the second, a bit of noise rock to clear the sinuses

Listen to the whole and you'll hear a lot more here. Their music is quite varied. Lots of instrumentation (including flutes, piano, cello, etc) with a good, versatile vocals.
In a word - a really interesting atmo post-cocktail
