Skid Row, at least to me, seem to be a speed metal band, in addition to just heavy metal

have you ever have heard speed metal do you know what is speed metal?
Avenger (old name of Rage), Blind Guardian, eraly Helloween, 1th metallica, Antharx,
Skid Row defenetly is hm band there arec no any speed metal elements into music
1th find out what speed metal is and how it sounds, compare whit Blind Guardian battalions of fear and follow teh blind
skiddy drummy boy cant keep up such tempo

2. I should've been more specific, I meant the album Slave to the Grind sounded more speed metal-esque.

100% heavy to me, whit small glamy touches (at Sebbe visual )

Slave To The Gring is 150% heavy metal and has nothing to do with speed metal whatsoever. SUbhuman Race Race however does and is quite Pantera like

Just because the band says they are Experimental metal doesn't necessarily mean they are. I'll take a look into them when I get some time.

Just because the band says they are Experimental metal doesn't necessarily mean they are. I'll take a look into them when I get some time.

on old concert flyers they sad Experimental death metal, on newest flyer they sad just Experimental metal. This choice is so hard.

Turbid North are progressive death (2010-), and their debut is apparently groove thrash (2001-2009). I think they're a bit off topic though, since this thread should be for featured bands only.

2001-2009 Groove thrash metal
2010- Progressive death metal

The debut is a tough call, it's probably been out of print for a while so there's only word of mouth about it being a "Pantallica" kind of record.

I think Darkthrone should have a "2010 - Heavy Metal" added to the genre. Maybe even before (since Dark Thrones and Black Flags?).

I repeat now that I have some sonic proof: Alternative metal should be added to the styles of MyGrain. There are several songs on Planetary Breathing that are a bit too unconventional to be covered by Gothenburg metal alone.

2013- Alternative metal

Oriental Folk Doom + Post-Metal I think...

Morar is mostly Folkish black metal. The folkiness doesn't reach the distorted riffs, and also, not all of the acoustic guitars include folk melodies, only some of those. The vocals create some early Ulver vibe. I'm not really against the Folk black metal thing if someone else wants to change it, but I'm not for it.

Atheist. For example, Piece Of Time is more thrash than death.

And the modern Amorphis isn't extreme progressive.

The rest of the bands I don't know so well.

As for Atheist, I don't really care if they're thrash or death, I just know that they're, without question, progressive.

Amorphis is extreme progressive in the same manner as Barren Earth. Their folk influences are the most prominent but you can tell they are also influenced by heavy and perhaps gothic metal. It is this diversity that lends them the tag of progressive.

Edit: The simplistic heavy metal riffing is pretty typical of folk metal anyhow...
