Do you guys really not know why doing anything with the left hand was considered wrong? In almost all cultures and religions it has been so for centuries. I thought this was common knowledge.

Not in Swe and Europe and US , so called white states,
In Swe IMO banning such left hand writing stopped after WWI sometimes and basically in Western Europe 60's non cared, maybe retarder KKK and such people

Italian, French, and English aren't European enough for you? You can look it up, that superstition about the left hand is global. It is not until the the beginning of the 20th century that people started to accept it. Even in France it was recommended to teach kids to write with the right hand until the seventies because it was supposed to be "better for the kid's integration".

Proudly left-handed, and never was subjected to old world opinions.

For one, the word "sinister" comes from the italian "sinistra" which means "left". The word "gauche" as in clumsy/weird comes from "gauche" which means "left" in French. And it is not a coincidence that something "right" is something good, you don't say something is "left" do you? Left hand path/right hand path. Doing things with the left bringing bad luck. Etc. It all comes from the belief that the left hand is the hand of the devil. That's why people who work with the left hand were considered heretics at first, and it slowly evolved into thinking they were misfits, weird, and brought bad luck. This crap followed us until the 20th century when research proved that left-handed people were "different" for neurological reasons and not superstitious/religious reasons.

Nice information, Ilham! I've never heard of such left hand being considered evil thing, though I'm not much surprised. It seems that lots of weird thing was in medieval.

Could be France colonized vietnam, so left hand writing is considered wrong in the beginning since such, perhaps my mother generation inherited that then teach me the strict way that tightened me. Yea very obviously that way.. Luckily I've survived.

I guess it was mostly an issue in the "old catholic europe"... In Spain it's common knowledge, and stuff like encouraging left handers to use the right one was a normal thing to do up to the 70' or something.

It is a thing in Islam as well. If I remember well it was reinforced by the fact Abraham "chooed" away the devil by throwing a rock at him with the right hand. Every country in which Islam has been dominant for a while still has that. I remember getting pestered by my grandma when I ate with the left hand.

Look, I've always been a fan of eating from my left hand 'cause half of the time I got something in my right hand(tablet, book, grocery) and on table this habit took over. I always kept my right hand on the right side of the plate while I do all my eating with left hand. It's easy.

But, here it considered to be obnoxious and mannerless.

Well, back in Brazil anyone can do stuff with the hand he wants and no one gives a shit. So I assumed it would be like that all over the world.

That's why the thieves were punished by cutting of their right hand... to eliminate them from the society because nobody would share food with them.

In the goode olde USSR the toilet paper most probably wasn't an issue... doing things with your left hand was just considered queer and completely non-progressive and undemocratic and offensive to all normal right-handed people... if you were left handed, it was like a sign you were gay or something so all children who were lefties, had to be "converted" by their teachers as early as possible... my bro's mother is ambidextrous because she was born a lefty but was forced to use her right hand at school...

I agree with you on 1st para. That is weird too.

I do however do not agree with 2nd para. May be it has some "taboo" thing in but it doesn't really connect the history here in India. I've seen lot of guys are lefty and always eat with their left hand but then these kinda bunch do collect some eyebrows in local eateries. Again, its weird.

I think being left-handed was frowned upon in the West as well... at least until the the 20th century... can't really imagine being a lefty in a strict Victorian society for example...

I know it and until 20th century whole world was different there was no classic meaning to west since biggest opposite to west ussr did not exist and east was classic east as Asia
I have heard even wild west gunfighters after injured right hand did not use hi left to use six shooter

but those days you can be outcast as well pirate, gunfighter, post wagon robber and so on

It was frowned upon until not long ago. My dad (65 years old) was originally left handed but was trained to write with his right hand in Catholic school. It resulted in him being ambidextrous while having terrible penmanship with each hand.

^ hell, I'm 29 years old and I even had the Sunday school teachers trying to turn me right-handed when I was a child. It never worked though. Couldn't write worth shit with my right hand and still can't. I remember even in the church there was one of the Sunday school teacher (much nicer than the rest) who had a prosthetic right arm and so it was difficult for her to do her cross with the right hand so she often did it with the left. Even then people were judging her and giving her dirty looks. Christian kindness and all that :

vegetables fruits, meet, BBQ meet and susage whit 80% and more meet mot standard McDonald staff, and try eat healthy
I feel better actually 3 years like this and I feel better, lose some weight even I was not fat but lets say 2 jeans size fatter as at age 18, now one, no training at all, 2 years I might go back at 18-20 age size
