Twenty Favorite Albums That I Own

Thumbs up: 0
Just a quick list of my twenty favorite albums that I own.

1. Metallica - Master Of Puppets
So the top two spots both go to Metallica, and I put Master on top fairly arbitrarily, mostly because of my long held belief that Master is the greatest metal album ever. These two albums are pretty much the greatest that heavy metal has ever been, and I'm not sure that my opinion on that is going to change any time soon.
2. Metallica - ...And Justice For All
3. Mastodon - Crack The Skye
"I guess they would say... we could set the world ablaze" This album is why Mastodon is my favorite band. I heard "Oblivion" and thought, "That sounds cool." then I listened to "Divinations" and thought, "Whoa, that's totally awesome." Then I bought the album and disappeared down a rabbit hole of proggy wonder. This is what the entire last decade had been building towards (For Mastodon).
4. Megadeth - Rust In Peace
So Dave listened to ...And Justice For All, and was all like: "I can totally write an album that is that precise and controlled while still retaining the incredibly awesome riffs that are my trademark." And so, he did.
5. Iron Maiden - Piece Of Mind
The first Maiden album I bought. That's why.
6. Revocation - Chaos Of Forms
Listen to this album. Do it now. This band is the best thing to happen to heavy metal in a long time. It can be sort of described as death/thrash, but that's only scratching the surface. If one listen to the guitar solo in Cradle Robber doesn't convince you then hang your head in shame because you officially can no longer recognize awesome music.
7. Amon Amarth - Twilight Of The Thunder God
I read lots of viking mythology when I was a little kid. I still love it to this day. I also love huge vikings that write catchy-as-hell melodic death metal and sing about Odin.
8. Iron Maiden - Powerslave
From a completely unbiased point of view I would probably say this is the best Maiden album. I am biased however, so there's another Maiden album above this one.
9. Iron Maiden - Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son
Conventional wisdom says this is the best Iron Maiden album. I say it's awesome, and without a doubt *one of* their best, but I'm not sure about it being their absolute best.
10. Judas Priest - Screaming For Vengeance
Everyone loves Priest. Moving right along...
11. Dio - Holy Diver
RIDE THE TIGER! YOU CAN SEE HIS STRIPES BUT YOU KNOW HE'S CLEAN! OH DON'T YOU SEE WHAT I MEAN?
12. Megadeth - Peace Sells... But Who's Buying?
Dave Mustaine is an arrogant douche. He's also one of the greatest riff machines in the history of the human race.
13. Death - Human
Lack of Comprehension. That is all the explanation necessary.
14. Queens Of The Stone Age - Songs For The Deaf
This is a super sweet album packed to the brim with rock and roll riffs and sludgy energy, but you probably already know that.
15. Mastodon - Blood Mountain
Mastodon is my favorite band that isn't called Iron Maiden, and this album is a great example of why. Think Thin Lizzy, except from Atlanta, and taking whatever drugs Scott Kelly from Neurosis is taking.
16. Motörhead - Overkill
I'm starting to realize that most of the albums on here are classics that don't need to be explained to anyone.
17. Slayer - Reign In Blood
No explanation necessary, except for why it isn't higher.
18. In Flames - Clayman
Their last album before becoming awful, this is an awesome melodic death album. Duh.
19. Metallica - Ride The Lightning
A classic album. I don't think I need to tell anyone why this album is great.
20. Opeth - Ghost Reveries
I haven't had this album in my collection for a long time so it may move up or down as I become more familiar with it, but right now I find it to be a beautiful haunting piece of progressive... something. You can't really call this album progressive death metal, even though that's what Opeth is usually labelled. Oh well, it rocks.
