In Sweden nowadays people are being called racists and nationalists because the say they're proud to be Swedish and like the Swedish flag. That's fucked up imo being called out as a bigot becsuse you're proud of your nationality.
I don't get national pride. But I totally get being happy with your culture, community, nationality whatever the heck you wanna call it.. But that's only one part of a person.
So you mean you can't be proud of being German because of German history and what the Nazis did 80 years ago? Sorry, but that's ridiculous. No one living in Germany today is responsible for what the nazis did back then.
and you can feel however you want, as well. I just wanted to emphasize that there is a distinction between liking and wanting to improve your country (patriotism) and wanting to BE your country, as you put it (nationalism)
