Matthew Bower is undoubtedly the key behind the British noise rock scene, appearing in and contributing to a dizzying array of influential outputs including the seminal Double Leopards, the weird and beautiful Sunroof! and his more recent work in Mirag to name a handful, but Skullflower has been his constant in terms of quality, varied experimental music and noise and early works such as 'IIIrd Gatekeeper' and 'Xaman' are held in high regard for shaping British noise rock today.

Insert joke about the sound not being repeated for a reason.

One of the many masterpieces that have their 10th anniversaries this year. 2005 was such a great year (the best along with 2003).

This is really really good. Most of my encounters with Skullflower were the typical wall of noise/randomness (that is cool, but not incredible) but this is quite different, much more thought out. The title track's fuzzyness is the best thing ever too.

This was pretty much the last album of his before he turned onto the white / harsh noise stuff. I liked it at first but I'm pretty sick of it now. Everything before this a bit different and well worth exploring.

I get sick of harsh noise stuff quite fast, most of the time it's just tedious and lazy

Will check out earlier stuff of the band then

Yep, after Merzbow's 400+ albums there's not a lot of point to anyone making it any more

I recommend IIIrd Gatekeeper when it comes to the previous albums. I actually like it more than this one but that's just me. I really should listen to this one more often. It's really interesting how the music actually makes me think of green and brown. Music that creates vivid images is definitely worth checking out.

We have both Skullflower and Merzbow in MS but no Nurse With Wound?

On topic, this will be my entry album into their catalog. Let's see if they can knock my socks off hard enough.
