Genghis Tron - Biography

Genghis Tron is three people -- Mookie Singerman (vocals/keyboards), Michael Sochynsky (keyboards/drum programming) and Hamilton Jordan (guitars/drum programming). The three of us met in school in Poughkeepsie, NY and started writing music in early 2004. They have self-recorded a demo a few months later, and that demo found its way to Adam at Crucial Blast, who offered to put their first release.

Four years of writing, recording, and touring later, they are now based out of Philadelphia and they've just released their third official release (and second full-length) Board Up The House on Relapse Records.

Genghis Tron is a three-piece experimental metal band formed in Poughkeepsie, NY and currently based out of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania currently signed to Relapse Records. Genghis Tron is noted for their creative combination of metal and grindcore with different types of electronic music. Although early on the band was often classified as cybergrind, Genghis Tron has since developed a more diverse sound, which includes elements of IDM, power noise, doom, industrial, ambient, in addition to their core style of synth-laden metal/grindcore. Their name it's self is an indication of their musical direction, taking it from the Mongol emperor and conqueror Genghis Khan, to express themes of destruction, violence and majesty, and from the 1982 science fiction film Tron to indicate their love for experimentation, science, electronics and technology.

Lacking both a drummer and a bassist, the band utilizes computer-based drum machines such as FL Studio and Ableton Live as well as multiple synthesizers to execute their distinct sound. Genghis Tron has toured with bands such as Behold... The Arctopus, Converge, Kylesa, Gaza and The Dillinger Escape Plan. The band recently completed recording their Relapse debut at Godcity Studio in Salem, MA.
