Caustic formed at the beginning of 1992 as a result of the fusion of two bands. After various changes in the line-up, the band began preparing new material for their first official release, "The Sensations Of The End", a self-released demo made public in 1995. At this time Caustic played a heavily technical brand of death metal.

After more changes in the line-up, new material was prepared in anticipation of the band's debut full-length album, which was recorded in 1998 and given the title "Rebirth Of Procreation". It was later edited by the Japanese record label Jackhammer Music in 1999 and officially released soon after. The album marked a turning point for the band as their underground status picked up momentum and resulted in "Rebirth Of Procreation" being distributed worldwide. A stylistic change was noticeable on the album, with Caustic playing an utmost extreme style of brutal death metal, yet maintaining some of the classic death metal features.

The band went through another change in the line-up with David Blaya leaving; initially Caustic were prepared to disband, but the decision was made to continue with only one guitarist. Afterwords Caustic played in many gigs in Catalonia and around Barcelona. During the time of their performances, Caustic were compiling all the material composed in preparation for their next release.

In 2004 Caustic decided to record their sophomore album, and conveniently met former Unnatural and Fermento guitarist, Franco. "The Horror Cult" was recorded with Franco as the second guitarist at AxStudios (Barcelona). After the album's release, the band carried out promotional gigs for "The Horror Cult" in an attempt to introducing their sound to record labels interested in brutal death metal bands.
