Origin - New Album In The Spring

2014 will be the year Origin releases a new album. The Americans will soon start recording the new opus to be released this spring with the title of Omnipresent. Vocalist Jason Keyser will record his first album with the tech death metal band. Entity, released in 2011, was their last album. Also, the band advises you to prepare for the impeding crushing heaviness.

Andromeda - To Reissue 'Chimera' And 'II=I'

Inner Wound Recordings announced that the label will re-release the classic Andromeda progressive metal albums II = I and Chimera. The release dates are set for January 21st for North America and January 24th for Europe. Both albums are remastered and contain liner notes written by Andromeda guitarist Johan Reinholdz.

Mikael Åkerfeldt - Updates On New Album

With their new album expected this year, guitarist/vocalist Mikael Åkerfeldt of Swedish progressive band Opeth spoke to Decibel magazine about the progress of the songwriting sessions for the band's follow-up to 2011's Heritage. Åkerfeldt revealed that he plans to enhance at least a few of the new Opeth tracks with strings.

Sigh - You Oshima To Guest On New Album

Japanese avantgarde metallers Sigh have confirmed today that multi-instrumentalist You Oshima from the solo project Kadenzza is going to play guitars for the band's upcoming 10th album Graveward to be recorded this year. According to the band, Graveward will be a "very cinematic album, epic, symphonic and of course evil and scary."

Vagos Open Air 2014 - Opeth, Soilwork And More Announced

The Portuguese festival Vagos Open Air 2014 will take place at Quinta do Ega in Vagos, from August 8th-9th, 2014. After announcing the first confirmations Kreator and Epica, the organizers now confirm Swedish bands Opeth and Soilwork for the festival. Joining these bands will also be Murk, a Portuguese band that just released the EP Tyrants Of Decay.

Wastefall - Part Ways With Guitarist And Co-Founder Of The Band

Alexander Katsigiannis, the guitarist and co-founder of the Greek progressive metal outfit Wastefall, has recently left the band. Being part of it for more than 10 years, his contribution to the band is invaluable. Additionally, Wastefall have already announced the replacement for Alexander. Taking the position of guitarist will be John Aktypis.

Sleep - New Album In The Works

A new Sleep album after so many years? It seems like their reunion is finally resulting in new material judging by a recent interview with bassist/vocalist Al Cisneros. Pestilence - To Tour Europe This April/May

Dutch tech-death metal monsters Pestilence are pleased to announce that they will headline the Pest Over Europe 2014 tour, where they will be presenting their new, seventh studio album Obsideo, out since November 11th, 2013 through Candlelight Records. Process Of Guilt - To Begin Recording New Split

Portuguese metallers Process Of Guilt announced that the studio sessions for their upcoming 12'' split with Swiss band Rorcal will start soon. This will be the first new material since releasing their latest album Fæmin in 2012. In November, Process Of Guilt had confirmed that they were working on new tracks for the split and that you should "expect nothing less than both bands going further inside their own search for extremity."

Fortíð - Release New Video, Complete New Album

Black metallers Fortíð are celebrating the start of 2014 with the release of a video for the title track from their 2012 album Pagan Prophecies. The video was filmed and edited by Hannu Mikola of Visual Vortex and includes footage of the band performing live during their 2013 tour of Finland, as well as a series of images that point to the doom of mankind.
