All Shall Perish - New Line-Up Announced

Oakland, California extreme metallers All Shall Perish have issued the following update on their MySpace blog:

"So we're long due for an update on the currently happenings of All Shall Perish.

Firstly, we're pleased to announce that Adam Pierce (Sea Of Treachery) has come onboard as our new drummer. Yes, this means that one of our original members, Matt Kuykendall, is no longer in the band. It's always tough to part ways with a longtime member and friend, but it was absolutely necessary in order to maintain forward progress.

Also, as many of you may already know, our most recent lead guitarist, Jason Richardson, has left All Shall Perish and joined Born Of Osiris. That being said, we'd like you all to welcome Francesco Artusato, originally hailing from Treviso, Italy, as our new touring guitarist for the foreseeable future.

This is the line-up you'll see throughout this year and hopefully well beyond. We feel great about these new additions and are confident that the All Shall Perish fans will make them feel welcome!

There will be new photos and more updates coming soon. Come see us on Summer Slaughter and hang out!"

Amoral - Writing New Material

Finnish metallers Amoral have issued the following update:

"As you might've noticed, it's been real quiet here in the past few months. We've been writing, rehearshing and recording demos of the new material that will eventually become Amoral studio album number five. There's been a nice, long break from gigs, so we've been able to fully concentrate on this, which also explains the lack of updates or news online.

So far, we have about 50% of the next album completely written and demo'd out, and we're really happy with what we're hearing. It's still gonna take a good while to complete writing the other half, figure out all the boring business side of things (new label etc) and actually record the album, so please be patient. We also have some shows to do during the summer, which slows the writing down a bit...

We've posted a couple of videos of us recording new songs, one with Juffi's beats and another with Ari's vocals. Sorry for the lack of new music heard, but we don't wanna get the riffs out there this early in the process, we'd rather keep it fresh for when the album is actually out."

Midnattsol - Enter The Studio Next Week

Midnattsol have issued the following update:

"After we have spent lots of time in our new rehearsal room during the last month, the time has come, we will enter the studio. We can justly claim that we have never worked so intensively on our material and also the work with our new guitarist Alex Kautz was like a rejuvenation for us. Thus we are extremely looking forward to record the songs now!

As we had been very satisfied with the recordings of Nordlys at Studio E, we have decided for the third album not only to let the recordings do by such an experienced producer as Markus Stock from Studio E (e.g. The Vision Bleak, Lacrimas Profundere, Secrets Of The Moon and Dornenreich), but also the mixing and mastering.

The best news is however: The recordings will already begin May 24th 2010 and with a short interruption we will be in the studio until July. Of course we will keep you informed about further information regarding the new album and the release date."

Belphegor - Working On New Material

Original news, posted on 28.03.2010

Austrian metallers Belphegor have issued the short following update on their official website:

"Yeah it's great to return to Norway and play the Inferno Festival again. We start the rehearsals on Monday. Expect an intense blood-convent and blasting hellfire. Time for the next chapter. We just finished the second rehearsing session for the new album. Currently we're working on six brachial sound-collages. We will be recording, mixing, and mastering the as of yet untitled album in Sweden this time around."

UPDATE (thanks to BudDa)

Belphegor will enter The Abyss Studios in Pärbly, Sweden on June 19, to start recording the drums. The band has tapped Peter Tägtgren (Immortal, Celtic Frost, Hypocrisy, Dimmu Borgir...) to produce their new, as of yet untitled album.

Belphegor´s main man Helmuth comments: "A new challenge. We're high on fire and totally motivated. I'm stoked to work together with a dude that needs no instruction, an excellent musician/producer. I´m sure that Peter will create a massive soundwall for our ninth long player. We are absolutely focused on the new album. That's the only reason why we play only a few open airs this summer. The masterplan is to record again in 4/5 sessions til middle of September. Once again letting the tracks slowly take form, with the songwriting and production reaching a new level of intensity."

Commented Peter Tägtgren: "I am really looking forward to producing/mixing the new Belphegor album. It's going to be a blast; You better be prepared."

Bass shredder Serpenth adds: "On Friday we will start the fifth rehearsal session - day 24 - for the upcoming album, which lasts til Tuesday. We will fine tune eight compositions out of nine. It's going to be an epic - brachial Belphegor album, more shredding, more magic, more of everything."

Expect an early 2011 release through Nuclear Blast Records.

Hate - To Enter Studio Next Month

Polish Death metallers Hate have been working on their new compositions for a over 6 months now. The band will enter Hertz Studio in Bialystok, Poland just after their North American tour with Hypocrisy - on June 5 to begin recording their new album for a late 2010 release via Listenable Records. Hate have announced the title of their forthcoming material as Erebos which comes from ancient Greek and means literally "deep darkness or shadow". The new album will contain at least 9 new songs, which are said to be a fusion of blackened death metal, industrial and ambient sounds, deathcore and heavy metal.

Guitarist/vocalist Adam The First Sinner comments: "Since the premiere of Morphosis we have toured different parts of the world and faced a ton of challenges over the course of the last two years. All of the hard work that we have put in the band and everything that we have experienced is reflected in our new songs, which we know are our best yet. Erebos is going to contain extreme metal to the full with different musical styles incorporated. We explore areas that have not been associated with Hate before, and what we have created is a mixture of styles all packed in an extreme and vicious form. It is still 100 % Hate, but more elaborate, sophisticated and, in a way, redefined. We have titled the material Erebos which basicaly means darkness of human soul - and is full of analogies to condition of the human living in today's world who is a slave to his anger, weaknesses and complexes. Existing in a fictitious, virtual world, he is a slave to his dreams and does not really live but dreams that he lives."

Evergrey - Line-Up Changes

Evergrey have finally made their "big changes" announcement. The full statement goes as follows:

"As promised here is the first part of news regarding Evergrey as a band. At first it might seem devastating and frightening as it did to us when making this decision. People change, evolve and grow, sometimes in different ways and in different directions. This happens to everyone and it has certainly happened to Evergrey as a band throughout the years.

Me and Rikard Zander (keyboards) have together with guitarist Henrik Danhage and drummer Jonas Ekdahl made the mutual decision that it was best for us all that they leave Evergrey. They wanted to and we wanted them to. The last tours, recordings and just hanging with each other has not been as fun and giving as earlier and before it would go too far, resulting in a collision in between friends, which could ruin everything we have built up during the years, we decided to call it quits. It's sometimes both smart and foreseeing to end situations before they get out of hand and create something that is totally unnecessary and irreparable. To be in a band must be experienced as fun, giving and fulfilling. There is so much time during a life as a touring musician that is boring that if you don't even enjoy yourself while playing then it's better to do something else.

Henrik and Jonas also got DeathDestruction that also has evolved and became more and more serious during the years and now they even recorded a debut album and naturally it felt fresh and reviving for them to enter something new and unexplored as opposed to Evergrey where they more or less experienced the same things over and over.

It is very important for us to tell you that we are still great friends and most likely always will be since we have shared 10 years of our lives and dedicated it to the progress and evolvement of Evergrey. The friendship is what we value the most and nothing could be more important than that, at least for the four of us.

So please take some time to digest and understand. That is what we have done and I am glad to say that all of us are happier than in a long time. This is something I think you can feel when watching the video version of the statement.

But that is not the end of it. Jari Kainulainen (bass) also decided to leave the band, and the reason was that he would rather play with a band called Killing Machine as they could offer him a salary we couldn't and that was the sole reason of his decision. We were really sad to see Jari leave as he is a tremendous bass-player and person.

Corpus Mortale - Band Update

Danish metallers Corpus Mortale have issued the following update on their MySpace blog:

"We've been laying a bit low in April due to a few members being on tour with another band (The Cleansing) so rehearsals and all has been limited. The song writing is progressing never the less so the new album will soon be completed as planned. We're also currently looking at possible studios for the recordings so we might be able to confirm something in the near future.

Show wise there's lots of interesting stuff coming up. We're on the brink of getting a lot of shows confirmed so expect a bunch of tour dates in the next up-date. So far we're confirmed on two festivals, those being:

Kill-Town DeathFest (Copenhagen, Denmark) in September & Gothenburg DeathFest (Gothenburg, Sweden) in November... Both festivals have a shit-load of cool underground bands booked from all over the world so if you live near these cities make sure not to miss these events.

That was all for now... more info on tours will follow in May."

Saturnus - Update From The Band

Danish doom metallers Saturnus have issued the following update:

"Dear all, we think that now is the time to let you in on what is currently going on in camp Saturnus...

As you might know we went through a substantial "re-grouping" last year. Thomas and Brian are of course still in the band handling vocals and bass while lead guitarist Rune Stiassny, who already participated in two European tours, also is a full-blooded member of Saturnus. We are looking forward to present our drummer and a rhythm guitarist as well when the time comes.

While we are humble towards the achievements of the past we are at the same time confident that we are able to carry on the flame and create a new Saturnus album. When exactly a new album will see the light of day we can't say for sure. But what we can say is that we are currently in the process of writing new songs and that we will do some pre-recording for our album this spring.

The new material - in our opinion - is promising indeed. But if you would like a peek listen as to how it actually sounds like we have uploaded a YouTube clip at our MySpace from our performance of the new song "Wind Torn" in Madrid last fall. We hope you like it... (our former drummer Jesper and Martin from Nightlight/Iron Fire helped us out on this tour - thank you!)."

Icarus Witch - Introduce New Guitarist

Heavy metallers Icarus Witch have issued the following update:

"Many people have mentioned over the last few years that they miss hearing Icarus Witch as a 2 guitar lineup with the harmonies, rhythms and dual leads intact. Our position was that we also enjoy hearing those elements but did not want to inject a new, unknown member into an equation that was already running so smoothly on stage. While on the Paul Di'Anno tour we were fortunate enough to have that 2nd guitar slot for Paul's set filled by a phenomenal talent in Pittsburgh area guitarist, Ed Skero (aka Full Metal Duffy). Performing that challenging set every night with Ed on stage proved a couple of things:

a) We sound better with the additional guitar
b) We got along so well with Ed on a personal level that the chemistry was right to make the move.

So join us in welcoming Mr. Ed to the inner circle. Once you hear what he will bring to the band in terms of classic style, vintage tone, tasty writing and Reiki healing prowess, it will be obvious that the Witch is about to take it up a notch on record and on stage every night. Namaste Duffy... your life is about to get weirder than you ever imagined."

Half the new album (which is still untitled) has been recorded in pre-production form, and work on the album will continue through the year in between touring and festival appearances, with a tentative 2011 release date.

April, is Gorgoroth's first European tour since 2005 and the first tour to feature Pest since 1997, and the band is looking forward to getting back on the road again after this long absence. Neaera - To Enter Studio In June

German metalcore act Neaera have issued the following update:

"Hey there, just a quick update from the rehearsal space for you guys: the songwriting process is going fluently, we´re focused and very close to wrapping this thing up! We are very confident about the song material, this one is going to be a beast.

We will enter the studio in June to work on this next record which will be released in the fall of this year via Metal Blade Records. In compliance with the back-to-the-roots approach to this record, we will record the drums at Stage One Studio with the Mr. Myiagi among metal producers, Andy Classen, who already produced our first record, The Rising Tide Of Oblivion. Of course, we will also work again with our good friend Alexander Dietz, the self-proclaimed Brad Pitt among metal producers, on this one. The mixing / mastering will be done by none other than Tue Madsen. We will continue to update you guys as more information unfolds."

Malevolent Creation - New Management, New Album Details

Official press release

Florida death metal monsters Malevolent Creation have just signed a management deal with Extreme Management Group (Suffocation, Origin). It is also at this time that the band would like to confirm April 5 2010 as the starting date for recording their new album with Eric Rutan at Mana Recording Studios (Cannibal Corpse, Vital Remains, Goatwhore, etc.).

The band has released the following official statement: "After over 20 years in existence, and now having the most solid line up in years, we really wanted to make sure that with this new album we elevated the band in every way. Getting good management was crucial and Extreme Management Group has a great track record. Erik had been talking to us since Doomsday X to record us, and with Gus Rios (drums) being the band full time now, we didn't want him to have the responsibility of producing the album as well as writing and playing. Erik really understands what we are about, and has all of the same thoughts about recording as us. It really couldn't be a better working situation. We've said it before but this album really is without a doubt is the most relentless, focused and brutal Malevolent Creation album ever! We really went back to our roots, not only as a band, but as fans of metal. We wrote an album of songs that we as fans of brutal music would want to hear."

Pre-Production Video Blog #1 | Pre-Production Video Blog #2

Malevolent Creation's latest album, Doomsday X, was released in the U.S. in July 2007 via Nuclear Blast Records and in Europe in August 2007 via Massacre Records. The CD was recorded and engineered at Mercury Recording Studios in Pompano Beach, Florida by longtime friend and producer (and sometimes session member) Gus Rios, and is said to be the most diverse Malevolent Creation album recorded to date and "without a doubt their fastest!!" Mick Thomson, guitarist for Slipknot, contributed a "ripping" guitar solo to the song "Deliver My Enemy".
