What cars do you prefere more There is 3 posibilities and what do you prefere I personaly like only automatical, Its been long since I drove a car but manual is pain in ass, you need work whit legs, arms, its totaly nonsence to me I prefere only automatical cars, you simply drive, car do all itr self, ok reverse but its easy , no work whit legs 2 pedales, one gass one brake I know it was stupid think to do but I start even use one leg for gass one for brake, its easy one leg gass one rfake, even its totaly aganst all driving rules, but I dont care since I never willd rive manual car. I did it also when I have forth lift truck practice (it was 3 day job only) one gass, one brake, its much easyer, So for me only automatic, IMO all manual cars can disapear , we have new loyouts, new HD TV, new PC whatever, why we need keep this old fassion crap manual car ?

Manual. It's the only one I've tried, and I'm fine with it. But I admit automatic can be useful (the boyfriend of my sister, who's handicapped, can drive thanks to it).

Before driving, I thought automatic was best (no need to change, manual seemed complicated,etc.). But with some practice, manual ain't bad. Both are nice I'd say.

It depends on the situation. So the best cars for me are the ones you can switch between automatic and manual.

I've never driven a manual car. A lot of people say it's more fun and I can see it being fun for sure...but to drive a manual car everyday especially when you get stuck in traffic...I'd imagine you would be wishing you had an automatic car. I prefer automatic cars that have the ability to do manual shifting from paddles behind the wheel or from the gear lever itself. I drive a 2012 Jeep Patriot (it's a company car) which is an absolute piece of junk. But it's an automatic car that allows for manual shifting from the gear lever. In a car like that though...it's not really needed. It's better for sportier cars.

It is clear you haven't driven too much car in your life if you can't think of situations when manual is better.

01.07.2012 - 20:44 Written by Bad English on 01.07.2012 at 16:59 I don't know where you learned to drive but when driving an automatic it is normal to just use one leg and NOT two legs. Hell, people who's left leg (if you drive on the right side of the road of course) can't be used anymore due to various reasons always get an automatic car because there you only need to use the right leg.

No all driving schools say you need to use to right leg for brakes and gass and only left to 3th pedal(dunno it name in english) because if its stress you can mix it all Swe and Lv driving schools says so No I havnt drive so much, I have no car and I dont want i, encuramce is way to expencive and fuel , 2005 full tank here cost mayeb SEK 300 - 400 now SEK 3000 , car is expenice and I havnt drive in mountains, only in normal road where is not huge trafic, so I have no clue about it and I dont like vickles, if its broke up I have no clue how to fix it , I never ever have been inteested in tecqikes and motor, angines , maybe litle ships and aiplains , my helat was reason why I didnt get in ny of those and I prefere clasic cars like 60's 70's but Im to poor to buy it I use to have a moped and bike long ago, I sold both since I need money and I drove those whit out license anyway ( even I know traffic rules), I duidnt get it because I was discriminated in driving school because of long hair. but it was in F ing Latvia, Im happy i movd in Swe

01.07.2012 - 20:56 Written by Bad English on 01.07.2012 at 20:51 That's right, that's a manual NOT an automatic. For automatic driving you ONLY use one leg. That's how it is taught everywhere. Automatic you use your right leg for gas and brakes and you don't use your left leg because there are only two pedals and not three like in a manual. There the left one is only used for the changing gear.

01.07.2012 - 21:01 Written by Bad English on 01.07.2012 at 20:58 Now you're saying you the exact opposite from what you said first. You first said you use only one leg and now you say you use two legs. And that is EXTREMELY dangerous when driving automatic. My God your English is extremely bad. Half the time you don't even know what you write.

I've never tried automatic. The concept baffles me. I change gears depending on what I want the car to do, how much I want spare fuel, and indeed for additional or alternative braking in some conditions. And I imagine driving on automatic would be incredibly boring and make you unattentive to what your car is doing and what's going on. It's not difficult to learn, it's still the norm in Finland and it becomes an automatic (haha) function very quickly. I won't vote since I don't have the experience, though. I just wonder what the benefit of automatic transmission is percieved to be? Just that it saves you some supposed "hassle" (that actually keeps you more focused on driving)?

01.07.2012 - 21:17 Written by IronAngel on 01.07.2012 at 21:05 when you are tied up in traffic jams for a lot of time on a daily basis an automatic car is much more convenient. And the good thing with an automatic is that you are much sharper on the road because you tend to focus on the conditions on the road and not so much on your own car. You are way more attentive to the traffic around you and thus more focussed on roadd conditions. So, imo, it is generally safer.

I owned a 91' Toyota Corolla when I was 12, and it was a stick. I drove the piss out out of it, until the gas lines started to leak, and I sold it about a year later. I prefer Automatics, just because they're less hassle to use, but if I'm in a mudding truck, it has to be a stick shift.

I don't drive nor do I know how to but given the modern age manual cars seem a bit anachronistic really. Totally understandable if you're a racing driver as you need to have full control of the gear shifts but it seems kind of irrelevant on the road really as I imagine the performance increase is negligible and automatic is more than enough for day to day usage. Then again given that the road speed limit is what, 70mph (in the UK) then why allow non-sporty cars to have speeds excess of that, up to and beyond 100, 120mph etc? I can't imagine anyone is going want to take their Ford Fiesta around a speed track... And why does hardcore porn have an 18 certificate when you can legally have sex at the age of 16? Oh wait, that's offtopic.

02.07.2012 - 02:14 Written by MetalSpider on 01.07.2012 at 20:09 In my very first real traffic lesson (as in, not just small side-streets) about 2 months ago I got stuck in a huge line of cars and had to spend half an hour getting out of that jam. It was great exercise but then again if I had to do that every day I think I'd go nuts. Automatic for me is more practical as I'm still a driving student and, to be honest, I'm quite clumsy at it, but then again I believe everyone should learn a manual transmission first. I love driving, I'm just pretty bad at it, because I could never practice on anything, as my family never owned a car and the first time I got behind the wheel in some yard was in mid-april this year. but then again using my almost 20-year bicycle experience I'm pretty sure I'm gonna be a good motorcycle rider I sometimes change from 2nd to 4th by mistake and things like that, the engine starts rumbling, and my asshole driving instructor starts complaining, and even then I still believe it's better to learn to drive with a manual gear. Written by Marcel Hubregtse on 01.07.2012 at 21:01 Welcome to Metal Storm. Written by [user id=4365] on 01.07.2012 at 23:25 My instructor half-explained this to me, and it makes total sense I guess: if you rev an engine a lot with a low gear, it will keep on turning but the transmission won't allow it to go too fast. thus, you're actually burning more fuel for the distance you drive. on the other hand, if you're in 4th or 5th gear and the engine is not reved up too much, you're going way cheaper, the downside being that if you don't keep it reved up a bit (or push the gear pedal) when it reaches zero revolutions per minute and stays there for a while, it will stop, and that's not a pretty situation. it's exactly the same as on a bicycle: on flat ground, if you're in a low gear you have to turn your legs a lot to get it to speed. if you're in a high gear though, the legs turn a lot less. imo it goes to the point that the fuel (calories) usage analogy is the same too: low gear with a certain speed will eat through more energy than high gear with that same speed. as for the porn thing, you might want to ask Cleverbot about it cuz I sure have no idea

I agree with what IronAngel says here. I've never driven an automatic car, but I can imagine that a lot of the fun and feel of driving is taken away with one. There is much more joy to driving a manual car, surely. If you understand the optimum time to change gears then fuel isn't any more of an issue, driving a manual car just gives you more control over the car. My first car was a classic Mini and I am in a country where manual is the standard, so maybe that's why I feel this way - I get great joy from driving.

The few times I've driven an automatic, I kept putting my left foot down automatically to change gear when slowing down. The hand never wento for the missing gear stick, just the foot. And only decelerating, too. Written by Marcel Hubregtse on 01.07.2012 at 20:44 It's the same if you drive on the left. All cars, as far as I know, have the pedals in the same order. Written by Bad English on 01.07.2012 at 20:51 It's called the clutch in english.

If I have an option, I'll always prefer the manual. Nothing engages you like stepping on the clutch, hooking third, letting go of the clutch and flooring that gas pedal. An automatic makes driving a bore.
