I think that age has a lot do do with it. When you get older you realise that what a person is like inside is far more important.
When you are young and thinking with your genitals you look for the most attractive partner you can find, however unintelligent or unsuitable they may be. All you are thinking about is sex. When you get older and are possibly looking for a life partner you look for more than that. Yes, you still want someone attractive, but you look more for inner beauty, personality, having things in common, the ability to make you laugh, being able to talk for hours and not realising the time.
You're right, except that some people never grow-up. I'm almost 40 and I know people my age or older who still act like teenagers.

I know this gal a'int metal (but we only have this topic and the one about the actresses), but I've been listening to Garbage a lot lately and I can't overcome the fact how very infatuated I have been for years with Shirley Manson. Her unconventional beauty and charisma never cease to amaze me. Yes, she is hitting 50 soon and years have taken a toll on her, but nonetheless, she ages gracefully.

I always liked Eleonora from Putrefied Beauty, even if blondes aren't usually my thing. She didn't seem to smile for any of the promo pics but there are various pics of the band at live shows and stuff and I always thought she had a cute smile.  Shame they broke up, their demo/EPs were pretty solid.

Most of the gilrs here are thought to be pretty because of a combination of factors: 1. They're female in the metal world that's dominated by hairy males. 2. They have long hair. 3. They wear tattoos. 4. They wear makeup. The above factors will make most of metal fans deem most of metal girls pretty. While this is not so often the case. Take the new vocalist of Arch Enemy. Watch an interview, take a close look at her. She is average, at best. But because of the 4 points I mentioned above, metal fans will think she's pretty. In the kingdom of the blind, a one-eyed man is king, or however that saying went.
