Candlemass, the founders of epic doom metal.
Their First four albums Epicus Doomicus Metallicus, Nightfall, Ancient Dreams, Tales of Creation are flawless, and its very difficult to choose the best from these bests.

So defn there must be many Candlemass and epic doom metal fans around with views for this Epic band.

(Arguing If Candlemass was the first doom metal band or weather Epicus Doomicus Metallicus was the first doom metal album is what most of the times is discussed and i would recommend to keep away frm these "Arguable" issues)

Views About the band, albums and Fav tracks, news etc Post On....

Was "Epicus Doomicus Metallicus" re-recorded at some point? the vocals sound to me a bit like the other vocalists of this band

Nope it has never been re-recorded. I don't even think it was ever remastered (but am not sure about that though)

well then the guys in the band seem to seek the same epic, dramatic vocals(though the guy on Epicus also has a good halford-like scream if i remember correctly) with each new vocalist

I got my hands on the new album this week. Even though none of the songs reminds me of Lucifer Rising it's still a very good album and the DVD that came with it gave you a nice behind the scene view of the recordings and tour

HOLY SHIT listening right now to their whole first album(previously haven't listened to all of it) AND HOLY SHIT THIS IS EPIC AND AWESOME. i swear i'll learn to do the demonic intro of Demons Gate lol

i'm gonna HAVE to attend Keep it True 2010. it's something that shouldn't be missed.

but what's been Landqvist doing all this time? on Metal-Archives it says he only recorded a few demos with another swedish band.

Keep It True has been selling otu a year in advance for a couple of years now. what happens is that, for example, during Keep It True 2008 the tickets for 2009 go on sale, so the people present buy them.

well that's no fair... sounds way too elitist to me, like "come to KIT 2009 so you can buy tickets to the 2010 festival! but you can only attend 2009 if you attended 2008, and 2008 if you attended 2007, and so on. if you want to attend 2010 but didn't get tickets to 2009 you're a POSER!!"

Do you know why he didn't continue with music? Was it for the usual family reasons?

No idea. Up to the Candlemass 20th Anniversary show he didn't even ever perform live with Candlemass.

Uhh... I'm not convinced with the word "common" in your statement. Not being racist or anything, but most cabbie drivers around here are of Indian ethnicity (or maybe I don't use the taxi often enough to get fair numbers or stats). Not saying there isn't metal in India, but don't think it's v popular in that culture =/

Jeez, what do you people think?
I wonder if Lucas actually rode a cab here in The Netherlands since they are bloody expensive. Oops of course he rode one, after the first day of Dutch Doom Days back from the station to my house... so I think that Lucás' ears were still ringing with the sounds of doom gathered at Dutch Doom Days. So he did he did hear a cab driver rocking out and playing doom metal

A lead vocalist on a great album now a taxi driver? That's interesting, to say the least. In a little bit, I'm going to go on youtube and listen to a song off of Epicus Doomicus Metallicus. I enjoy a good deal of what I've herad from Candlemass. However, I hate their new photograph, what with the candle-made pentagram and them standing in it. It looks like a crappy photoshopped photo and is also an unnecessary fire hazard, if they really were standing there, that is. One of my favorite songs by this band is the song Ancient Dreams.

I love the new album, for me it's one of the best of 2009 alongside the new album of Heaven & Hell. Love the vocals, very catchy parts also.

Rofl! The 'Bewitched' video is a classic one. All doom metal video's should feature people in habits, following each other around Doomdancing!

Man, it was amazing to see Messiah Doomdancing with his big curly hair!

I haven't really listened to any of the new albums yet, the last one I listened was King of the Grey Isles. Not a bad record, but it never really grabbed me. I still listen to the old cd's, which are amazing and never seem to wear out.

So far I've only heard their song Bewitched. The music video is so cheesy, but in that awesome fucking way. I love it. I should probably check out more of these guys.
