Beyond Creation is pretty cool. Recueil Morbide is a very brutal French band that write good songs when they don't get all slam-happy. Stay away from the album, A Neverending Flight. Their latest is pretty cool, though. Dutch band, Nox, plays everything at shit-your-pants speed and still cares about not sucking. Brilliant Coldness. Not as fast but just as technical. And here's a cut from the latest Natron. I prefer Bedtime for Mercy, but it's good. You won't hear much pig squealing here, if you're into that.

14.06.2012 - 18:02 Written by DJ Mythos on 29.04.2012 at 09:30 Beyond Creation are progressive/tech death I would also recommend though: Abominable Putridity - they are considered slam but their new album, musically, is slam but extremely close to brutal Vile - any of their albums before Metamorphosis, that album is not brutal at all Prostitute Disfigurement Abnormality - female vocalist Cerebral Bore - female vocalist Hour Of Penance Sentenced To Dissection - brutal with technical tendencies

29.10.2012 - 08:52 Written by Misfit74 on 29.10.2012 at 07:53 We were getting a little off topic in the 2012 Recommendations thread so I figured I'd move this convo to a more appropriate thread. Yea dude, I'm looking to beef up the BDM scene here a little so def give me some recommendations. Yea, Troy bailed then came back and now he's left again; supposively for good this time (he hasn't logged in in a couple months). I miss having him around, he was lots of fun, great company and definitely helpful around for the database. He did review Abominable Putridity's latest, very amazing SBDM album. In fact that review is what made me decide to try BDM again, I have checked out a few BDM bands over the years but never could get into it so I gave up but that review convinced me to try one more time and that album was just fucking amazing and ever since then I've had my head shoved quite far up BDM's asshole. Granted I still have some issues with the genre regarding some of the vocalists techniques but in general I like to consider myself a BDM guy now, in fact I think the only other genre I've listened to at all this year was a few months back I was on a dark electro/aggrotech binge for about 3 weeks but have since replanted my head in BDM. Then Anaal Nathrakh dropped Vanitas and I got real heavy into that album for a couple weeks until Kamelot's Silverthorn dropped and I listened to that for several days and but I'm back in BDM land. And so for my first year contributing to the MSA's I'll only be contributing in the death metal category because that's pretty much all I've listened to this year. As for Begging For Incest, 7 H. Target and Omnihility, I'll have to dig into them some time. Which reminds me, I need to look into Big End Bolt too since they're vocalist is the new guy for Katalepsy and I'm really digging his vocals on their latest song. Man Russia seems to be the current BDM capital of the world man like Norway was for black metal back in the 90s, fucking loving it!

Just listened to Devourment - Babykiller and I must say, ignoring the stupid yet hilariously ridiculous lyrics, it's a brilliantly brutal song

I'm very picky about brutal death metal (well, most music) but I searched through this thread and saw no mention of Unfathomable Ruination, which in my humble opinion released one of the best BDM albums last year. It's called Misshapen Congenital Entropy - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XUgRjqKWIyE Aside from that, I heard the new Defeated Sanity... wasn't too impressed. It's decent, nothing more.

11.02.2013 - 21:46 Written by Sunioj on 11.02.2013 at 20:08 They haven't really advertised or pushed themselves out there a whole lot. Only reason I know about them is because I noticed that the drummer from Bloodshot Dawn is the same drummer for this band. Anytime I discover bands like Bloodshot Dawn that are making waves for themselves I always like to see if the members are in any other bands, I don't know how many other people out there share the same mentality but that could be why they're still relatively unknown. Not to mention that BDM isn't exactly the most sought after genre in the world.

I don't really get the difference between brutal death metal and plain-old death metal. Why is brutal death metal a different genre? Forgive me, because I'm actually somewhat new to the whole death metal scene, but I don't understand how Aeon's album Aeons Black can be brutal death metal while Cannibal Corpse and Bloodbath have albums like Torture and The Fathomless Mastery which have quite a similar sound, but they are just normal death metal. Can someone explain this to me and illuminate the differences between death metal and its brutal sub-genre?

21.02.2013 - 01:23 Written by Jaeryd on 20.02.2013 at 23:41 It's about the break downs and vocals. Brutal death metal employs breakdowns (not like -core breakdowns) to give the music an added bit of "brutality". The vocals are also much more guttural and less intelligible in brutal than in regular death metal. Aeon isn't really brutal death metal same as Cannibal Corpse and Bloodbath, they do come off as heavier and more brutal than Cannibal Corpse and Bloodbath but they aren't "brutal death metal". For a more comprehensive examination of brutal death metal I'd recommend you read through this thread. The thread you're currently in is more for sharing and finding more BDM bands. The thread I linked to is technically a discussion of the differences between deathcore, brutal and slam death metals (not a comparison of regular and brutal death metals) but there are plenty of details in there written out by more technically knowledgeable users than myself that should help enlighten you about the world of brutal death metal.

Well new Devourment is out. Sounds like brutal death metal so all the slamheads will probably be disappointed by the lack of slam that was ever present on their last releases. Or it could just be that the vastly cleaner production is making the slams lose their impact.
