Well this is a fantastic game that i really enjoy playing, this thread is to discuss the game, no comments about how Morrowind is better etc, see it everywhere and i dont care.

I FINALLY cured vampirism, took a week because i had to collect 40 flowers just to clear my name from the Mages Guild. Then talk to the head guy.

there is a way to finish the game in about 14 minutes

there is a way how to kill Dagoth Ur even much faster (under 3 minutes i have seen) through "cascade potions" usage...but i was playing Morrowind several months without doing a half of "main story" and without visiting all places of the island and still wasnt bored...

Wow 3 minutes? I didn't realise anyone had got it down to such a quick time.
I was pretty much the same as you when I was playing Morrowind (oh, so long ago) it is so playable in that even when you're not doing much it's still a great game. I don't think I could ever get bored of Morrowind.

OBLIVION SPOILERS BELOW

i hate to beat a dead horse, but after playing for a while, i realize Morrowind is by far the better game. i mean, Oblivion is a damn good game, but Morrowind is incredible. they took out so many cool stuff in Oblivion like the Levitation spell(WHY???), the Spear skill, Unarmored, Medium Armor, Axes now are part of the Blunt skill 0.o and whatnot. they pretty much took out half the fun. good points? story is great as usual, though i haven't advanced too much in the main quest, plus a few realism problems solved, and the Sneak and Marksman skill actually work.

i actually worked out a way to increase the Sneak skill like crazy. simply go to a room where there's lots of people sleeping(i did this in the Arcane University's bedrooms) face a wall, hit the Sneak key, press Q and make sure the character bumps up against the wall and doesn't move(also turn off the run mode). do this when it's night and everyone's sleeping, in about 6 nights or so i increased the skill from 28 to 88, shame it wasn't a major skill, now i would have been level 10 or something instead of 5 lol.

and so i managed to finish all the quests of the Mages Guild by using very little if any magic at all lol. i just sneaked around with my trusty Bow of Burning and some Steel arrows and just sniped them one at a time with the critical hits, except for the bosses which i took out with the Debaser(which i don't remember where i found), which drains willpower with every strike and thus makes their spells useless.

One of the most shitiest overrated RPG's of our modern generation. Back in the day when I didn't have a xbox 360 people hyped this game like hell and I foolishly enough believed in it and the three reasons why it got me hyped to:
1. insanely amount of options to create an character
2. huge world to explore
3: a lifetime of gameplay.

So it was the first game I bought for the 360. What a crushing disappointment... the first reason was already debunked in the first 10 minutes. It's actually very limited and the game automatically corrects things so you barely have any freedom and are forced to live with a pumpkin head and also, why the hell are the elves so god damn ugly? their faces are squashed like it was slammed between a wall and they have large chunks of chocolate for hair. The second reason was debunked an few hours later. The World is big yes but the forests are all the same, it's just the same textures over and over again. The third reason is just bullshit, yes you can spend many hours in the game but is also because of the long boring travelling and going trough dungeons that don't have any rewards at the end. I tried to enjoy the game even after these disappointments but the game has so many flaws. Like the horrible music, shitty voice acting, weird multi culture society, clunky controls, level scaling, fucked up third person perspective, obscure and cryptic quests, paranoid A.I. crappy balancing of the classes, weak story line, annoying day and night system, stupid realism scale and I can go on and on for ours why this game is so fucking horrible.

Damn, that's a lot of hatred for a video game. But I actually really enjoy this game and can spend whole days just doing nothing but playing it. So much shit to do it and doesnt get boring in my opinion. Also, the Shivering Isles add-on is fucking awesome.

They only problem i agree with is exploring dungeons with no meaning. At least the citadel things have Varla stones or aylied artifacts.

If i were to improve on the game, i would create more variation in spells and weapons, mainly with enchantments. Remove unnecessary dungeons, and put in more villages or maybe some skill boosting mini game things (eg.archery range). Better AI and variation in attacks, like cant they attack as hordes or something harder. Their should be conflicting races (not to the point where they all attack each other 24/7), where you gain favour with ones you assist etc.

I thought many of the quests were pretty decent and original, only a handful were monotonous. The main quest is a bit short though. It would be nice if the guilds were kind of linked too. Their should be more guilds maybe.

That game is awesome, I like stealing stuff it gives me an adrenaline rush. They could've made it so that you could actually use some of the items that werent usable though. All in all it's a good game though; tons of possibilities and and choices, I hope that the 5th one is better... If there is a fifth one.

Yeah, a disappointment. At least you got to enjoy the smoothness(?) of the console version, it was horrible to play on a pc. Bore. They did a bit better with Fallout 3 though.

Nope the console versions are actually worse, more pop up and at least with the PC version you can download mods to get rid of certain down points such as the levelscaling. Also the controls feel very awkward and clumsy like it was meant to control it with the mouse and keyboard.

Got fed up with the game, it was getting way too tedious for me and i don't really have time for it anymore, so i read the storyline on wikipedia so i wouldn't get any fun out of it anymore even if i re-started playing it pretty good, but very ambiguous ending..

Civilization 4, Morrowind and Medieval Total War 2 remain unimpressed as the leaders of my favorite all-time games

I play Medieval Total War 2 also. It is better than the older versions of the total war games, but they didnt really change anything which was annoying!

I think overall the biggest problem with this game is that it does not really force you to roleplay much. You can make a character that is good at everything easily and finish all the guild quests with one character.

The ridiculous dialogues are a secondary problem.

I actually approached this game as a hack'n'slash kinda game and that works better. If you don't want to roleplay, don't need an interesting storyline and don't care about dialogues, Oblivion has some decent action going for it at least. The sneaking was done pretty well as well.

So I take it we're all in agreement that TES III: Morrowind was far superior to Oblivion?

Idk there are things about this game that are better then Morrowrind. But at the same time Morrowind has some better things aswell.. Im going to go ahead and say that Morrowind gets a 9 out of 10 and oblivion gets an 8.5 out of 10

Morrowind had its own share of problems. Didnt that game have no actual dialogues? You just had these key words and the npcs talked by themselves. That is just pathetic.

I was late on the scene with this one.

Chose the Khajiit, which wasn't a surprise for people who know me. Heh. He's awesome and I don't know if I could replay this in the future with another race. Really fun to play, especially as a sneaky character. Can't see how people couldn't at least squeeze a few hours of quality time out of this one, completely my type of game :3

I poured well over 150 hours into the game, and I'm still not exactly sure why. I enjoyed it, but I can think of numerous other RPGs that I liked more, but spent less time with. I don't mean to be a hater--can't wait for Skyrim.

I love the Oblivion soundtrack, I thought it was great! Interesting.

I loved the game personally and don't really agree with what you said, but I will definitely agree with the Third Person perspective...its useless and pointless.

I did love Oblivion, and spent 2 years on it. Everytime i finished every quest (or the vast majority anyway) I made a new character and focused on new Skills. My only qualm with the game is that everything does look the same, and the FUCKING TUTORIAL LEVEL! It's the worst I've ever seen in a game.

This game was terrible in almost every way. There was just so much wrong with it that I don't really know where to begin.

Only plus is that you could mod the hell out of it in order to make it playable. That was a small plus, and you actually got a semi-decent game after downloading tons and tons of unofficial mods that fixed some of the more acute problems. Still had lots of issues though.

Unmodded I think it's one of the worst pieces of shit that's been passed off as an RPG ever made.
