This thread is dedicated to the 80's Thrash metal scene, primarily underdog groups. This thread isn't meant to decide who the greatest thrash group was or is. Just to talk about bands you are interested in,what albums you consider to be classics, and so forth.A very unnapreciated group with one of THE greatest thrash albums ever released is Dark Angel,"Darkness Descends" was an instant favorite when I heard the opening riff for the first song. One other group I really enjoy is from the late 80's,went by the name of Evildead, they were among the few that had originality in their music at the time, they weren't just another Thrash group.I have only heard their debut "Annihilation Of Civilization",but "Underworld" is also a classic from what i've heard.Viking,Sacred Reich, Whiplash, and Exciter also kick ass.

There are a lot of bands I've been meaning to check out, like Sabbat (UK), Sacrifice, and Holy Terror, but their CDs are hard as hell to find.

Sabbat (UK) is really easy to find nowadays because History Of A Time To Come and Dreamweaver have just been remastered and rereleased with bonus tracks. Btw Andy Sneap's guitar work is ace on those two albums.
Toxik - World Circus and Think This have also just been remastered and rereleased with bonus tracks.
Holy Terror - El Revengo is quite easy to get hold of, check otu my review of it here http://www.metalstorm.ee/pub/review.php?review_id=3424
Sacrifice is a bitch to fin as original cd or vinyl nowadays, I am still looking for those (only have them as original cassette)

I find the following the best:
Raging Violence
Hate, Fear And Power

so their first two albums.

They have been re-released together on one cd.
Hate, Fear and Power is considered a full-length but is only about 15 minutes long.
And Raging Violence is only about 30 minutes long

80s thrash is very close to me! Mainly Bay-Area thrash:

Exodus - Bonded by Blood
Metallica - Kill 'em All
Testament - The Legacy
S.O.D. - Speak English or Die (or my all time favorit:)
Slayer - Reign in Blood

But there were so many good bands: Overkill, Realm, Artillery, Kreator, Destruction, Mekong Delta, Coroner
And there was a band called Paradox. Anybody heard about them? It's a german power/thash band, their second album (Heresy) was a concept album about the crusades. Very solid!

Then you should check it! It's totally classic! Thrash with punk/hardcore influences, and very humorous lyrics.

So euhm, Hirax rules!!
I've been listening to "Raging Violence", "Hate, Fear And Power", "The New Age Of Terror" and "Assassins Of War" all day, and I instantly loved this band. Highly recommended!

Plus I read they'll be touring again. A European tour is expected in autumn. Count me in, I'll be there for sure.

...As I read this no1 seems to remember bands such as Sadus? perhaps they are more death to be considered thrash? but hey its funny to see only 4 votes to classic albums among extreme thrasher such as Illusions Chemical Exposure a perfect 10 album in my opinion.

...for extreme thrash fans check this band out from Chile "Criminal" see video below:

this is really a band to be respected among thrashers.

and once again, there's no doubt about the influence by metallica to the other thrash metal bands nowadays, u must recognize they were one of the best by that time, specially with the K'eA album, wich shows an amazing job, puere thrarsh; and also good so far, not as great as they used to be, but still good;
and what about blind guardian, a good thrash too, altough there's a discussion if they're power metal or something like that, but they have some thrash and they're good at it; another good thrash and classical bands, slayer, even though it's not exactly one of my fave band, i gotta say they good, and sometimes great ; and last but not least, megadeth, it's indisputable what this band has also contribute to this genre; * there must be a lot of thrash bands out there but i dont know all of them, i hope to know other bands as good as metallica ( )or better than them so i can add another one to my fave list

btw, why some fans keep comparin' megadeth with metallica? i mean mustaine made a great contributions to metallica, but man, just give it up, for those whom says dave was the 'man', metallica proved they could make masterpieces without him; both bands have their own style, they both make music, so just choose wich one u like and listenin' to it; i personally dont like dave's style too much, but it doesnt mean i hate him or his band or his music, i just dont enjoy listenin' to it, that's damn it
...but maybe this stuff aint gonna stop because all the story they had ..

Check out Infernal Overkill; it's by far their best! I would even consider it a classic...

It was rereleased with the Sentence of Death EP, I believe, so I'd say buy that.

9.Administrative Decisions
10.Rapid Fire (BONUS TRACK: Judas Priest-Cover feat. Rob Halford)

3.Just Say Sacred - short film by Eric Braverman

it is totally worth its 19.99 euro price tag with all the pics included and the liner notes and the band being frank on the heavy slayer influences on Ignorance.
But why I already got it is because of the Live show dvd of the Dynamo Open Air set in 1989 which I attended. I am not sure but I think I finally could make myself out in the crowd.

anyone with an inkling of thrash in their blood should buy this release.
