In The Company Of Serpents - Ain​-​Soph Aur

In The Company Of Serpents sound as though they have been listening to a lot of very early rock'n'roll and blues in addition to the requisite sludge and doom staples. The guitars alternate between the most distorted of stone-tones and a jangly brightness that, combined with the gargantuan groove, uncluttered progression, and ultimate indebtedness of sludge to blues (by way of doom), had me convinced I was listening to somebody feeding Link Wray through a wood chipper at first.

Enisum

After spending most of last year playing gigs in every corner of Italy and Europe, the band is now switching-off live activities until Spring 2017 (except of course the dates already booked, i.e.25-26.11 at the "Autumn from Hell" fest in Germany and Switzerland) to focus on the last bits of the new album's writing and then start recording. Their popularity increased exponentially after the wonderful 'Arpitanian Lands' (their 2nd album released in physical format after quite many digital-only releases): the D.I.Y. attitude in booking gigs everywhere a chance to play was offered eventually paid off, with the band soon being noticed also abroad by quite a few labels.

Negură Bunget - Drummer Gabriel 'Negru' Mafa Dies

Tibor Kati, the guitarist and lead singer of the Romanian band Negură Bunget, announced recently that Gabriel "Negru" Mafa, the founding member and the drummer of the band, passed away yesterday, 21.03.2017. He was 42. The main reasons of his tragic and sudden death remain unknown.

Threshold - Announce Support Acts For Upcoming Tour

British progressive metal band Threshold have been working on their 11th full-length album and today they announced on their website that the album is scheduled to be released this autumn. The album name, Legends Of The Shires, was already announced last December. Furthermore, an accompanying tour will kick off upcoming November as well, in which Threshold will visit The Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Switzerland and the United Kingdom. Supporting Threshold on their Legends Of The Shires tour are Damnation Angels and Day Six. Both bands have played with Threshold in the past.

Metal Church - Drummer Jeff Plate Quits Band

Jeff Plate, the drummer of American heavy thrashers Metal Church for the last 11 years, has announced on the band's official Facebook page that he will no longer continue with them. His reasons, according to his statement, are personal and have to do with time management. The announcement's spirit is friendly and the drummer takes the opportunity to thank the band members and the fans for their support. Author & Punisher - Signs To Relapse Records, European Tour Announced

Relapse Records has announced the official signing of one-man industrial metal force Author & Punisher. Formed in 2005 by Tristan Shone, creator and sole artist behind the project, the band begins a new chapter this year with a self-released EP, Pressure Mine, which Shone describes as "dark and heavy, yet harnessed and restrained, with a focus on rhythm and deep full bass textures from all analog sound machines."

Gemini Syndrome

Formed in 2010 around the talents of former Otep vocalist Aaron Nordstrom, drummer Steele Medina, guitarists Rich Juzwick and Mike Salerno, and bass player Alessandro Paveri, Los Angeles-based, mainstream metal quintet Gemini Syndrome spent their formative days opening for bands like Nonpoint and Murderdolls on the Sunset Strip. As their reputation within the L.A. hard rock scene grew, so did their audience, and soon after the release of their 2011 debut EP, the band inked a major-label deal with Warner Bros. with plans for a debut long-player. The resulting Lux, which has drawn comparisons to bands like Disturbed, Stone Sour, and System of a Down, was released in 2013.
