Bands
Corporation 187

Hailing from Linkoping in Sweden, Corporation 187 might have been expected to follow the traditional Swedish path and form a melodic death metal band like so many of their contemporaries. However, guitarist Magnus Pettersson, fellow axe-meister Olof Knuttsson and drummer Robert Eng came together in the early 90's via a love for all things thrash, and especially the thrash band to end all thrash bands, Slayer.

In homage to their heroes the three friends initially started out as a Slayer cover band in 1995 recruiting Pelle Severin on vocals and Filip Carlsson on bass. Though Filip would eventually quit the line up he would return later in the band's story.

Bands
Coprolith

Coprolith was formed in the year 2001 after Furia (Ben's former black metal band) passed away. Ben started to look suitable members for a new band.

In early 2002 a guitar player Kari and a drummer Tony joined in and rehearsing began. Later in the year the band recorded a rehearsal demo "Supreme Hate". At this point the band was still missing a bass player until Jouni joined the band. New songs were then written.

In autumn of 2006 Coprolith started recording a new demo CD, entitled "World Falls Down", when suddenly Kari left the band. The demo was released in December 2006.

Bands
Sannhet

Founded in late 2010, the instrumental trio known as SANNHET has amassed a diehard audience within Brooklyn's broad underground music circuit through their abundant live performances throughout the borough, always choreographed with electrifying visuals. Known Flood, SANNHET's sprawling debut LP, features nearly forty-five minutes of their electrified post-metal, fueled with domineering riff-building movements and intense percussive hostility, unifying in a slightly blackened and trance-inducing atmospheric style, captured by Colin Marston (Krallice, Behold... The Arctopus, Dysrhythmia) and mastered by Carl Saff.

Downfall Of Gaia - Aeon Unveils The Thrones Of Decay

Downfall Of Gaia are a really hard band to place in one specific genre. Their second full-length album, Aeon Unveils The Thrones Of Decay, carries on the experimentation they dabbled with on their debut LP Suffocating In The Swarm Of Cranes. Dissonant black metal, post metal, doom metal, and sludgy, hardcore elements pervade both albums but where their debut was a bit raw, this new LP has been refined, re-tooled, and re-focused to take advantage of the band's amazing talents and superb originality.

Major Parkinson - Twilight Cinema

As curious as it is, one of my favourite albums this year was released quite early at the beginning of the year. This stellar album blew me away when I first heard it and it has continued to amaze me throughout the year. I might even say, Twilight Cinema has already stood the test of time. It has definitely survived the initial round of childish excitement. Most importantly, however, each time I listen to it I'm still awed by the detailed theatrical expressiveness and beauty of this album.

Nightingale - Retribution

A new Nightingale album has taken a long time to see daylight. To me it's at least 3-4 years overdue. Ever since Swanö hinted at it being in the works I've been impatiently waiting for a release date. As days, weeks, months and years went by, I started filing the scarce news of its progress under speculative fiction and fantasy. I was slowly starting to think of it as a vapourtune.
