Bands
Pombagira

Pombagira was formed in 2007 out of desire to reset the controls for the heart of the heavy by Peter Hamilton-Giles and Carolyn Hamilton-Giles. Initially formed as a two piece the band did eventually gain a bass player, but it was only on their second album that a third member was featured. Having set out as a more typical doom/sludge band, Pombagira across the course of their five albums have turned their attention to exploring the psychedelic in musical composition.

This was realised the most in their most recent release Maleficia Lamiah which received across the board praise for its innovative approach. This moved them away for just being notorious for their sheer volume - using a backline not dissimilar in stature to Sunn O))). Although this may not necessary be the complete emphasis for the band, they continue to be one of the loudest and most oppressive bands to witness live, however this has been coloured by incorporating a psych-o-delic light show.

Barren Earth - On Lonely Towers

Considering Barren Earth as a supergroup has never been necessitated. It's true that the musicians in question are already noteworthy for efforts elsewhere and currently lead busy lives in other bands. However, status external to Barren Earth no longer solely upholds the name, as the name has come to uphold itself with a tenable style their own. A third effort, On Lonely Towers, represents the band's continued development and change.

Negură Bunget - Tău

For those who didn't write the band off following the departure of Sol Faur and Hupogrammos, and their subsequent formation of Dordeduh, Negură Bunget are back in action. But while Vîrstele Pămîntului may have been a good return to form for the band, 2015's Tău unfortunately feels more like a step backwards.

Moonspell - Extinct

I figured Extinct to be one of those albums that offer instant gratification; you know, the one that gets you smiling when you listen to it the first time around, evoking the same emotions over and over on each subsequent visit. Because this album is actually almost that good. But the more I listen to it, the less I can figure out and pinpoint that little something that rubs me the wrong way.

Bands
Hel

Hel was founded in the year 1994 by Valdr, and belongs to one of the first German Metal bands dealing with mythologic themes in their lyrics and music. In 1997 Skaldir joined Hel and after two demos, the first album Orloeg was released in 1999. Unlike other bands Hel always took a lot of time between all releases and didn't care for any commercial trends and movements. 2004 the 10' Album Pagan Midgard Art was Hel's first release after a long time.

Following in 2005 was Finland Vörandi which is up to now Hel most complex and time-consuming album. It's a concept album that deals with The death of Balder.
