I'm glad to see you continuing your lists!

Nice to see Ahab in the honorable mentions.

I haven't really listened to any of the other albums here, but I do have some recommendations for you as always :

Summoning - Oath Bound
Necrophobic - Hrimthursum

Two essential black metal albums - you must check them out if you haven't already!

Not a lot of stuff I really love for this year. Monotheist is definitely my favorite release, but there are some other cool outputs by Summoning, Stolen Babies, Unexpect, Twisted Into Form, Last Days Of Humanity, Drowned (not on ms), Genghis Tron, Forgotten Silence or Mgła.
As far as non-metal stuff goes, I really like what Xanopticon, Mass Of The Fermenting Dregs and Whitehouse released, not to forget Shinobu Tanaka who made the Mario Kart DS soundtrack, which is full of bangers.

Yeah life got in the way. Also kinda wanted to expand my palate outside of Metal.

I think Ahab are really great at what they do, it's just listening to them... takes quite a commitment.

Really none? Not even the Maiden one they forced their poor concertgoers to sit through?

I think I listened to Hrimthursum but am drawing a total blank, I'll give it another look. Cheers.

Yeah I'm not well versed in the metal of the 2000s. But I guess that'll change now! I'll try to listen to these releases here and let you know what I think of them
