2008 was a really strong one for metal, Progressive metal had a very strong one, power metal at it's peak, strong output of Doom metal and 2000s Alternative going strong, 08 was one of the best. Not a bad year for metal, but not a particularly good one either. A couple of very good releases, several good ones, but none really outstanding. My top albums are: 1. The Drowning - This Bleak Descent 2. Mourning Beloveth - A Disease For The Ages 3. Acid Witch - Witchtanic Hellucinations 4. Opeth - Watershed 5. Haggard - Tales Of Ithiria 6 Esoteric - The Maniacal Vale 7. Amon Amarth - Twilight Of The Thunder God 8. Doom:VS - Dead Words Speak 9. Revelation - Release 10. Hieronymus Bosch - Equivoke 11. My Silent Wake - A Garland Of Tears 12. Frailty - Lost Lifeless Lights 13. Illdisposed - The Prestige 14. In Mourning - Shrouded Divine 15. Apathy Noir - A Silent Nowhere
