It's one of the cases where newer, more structured code meets super old stuff and exposes old bugs.

It shows now because I use user ids to generate user link popups and the change log has some empty user ids.

The issue is that sometimes the change log is put into the database with a missing connection to the modified item. Idk why that only happens sometimes but that's what I want to investigate.

Yes, that's a bug. I'm not sure I can fix that today other than reverting changes we need anyway. But the root cause seems to be something we've been hunting for a while. I'll look at it tomorrow.
