"Impressions In Blood" is indeed a superb album! I've been listening to it for weeks now, and it keeps blowing me away! What a solid, strong, kickass and powerful album, at the same time as impressive as brutal. Definitely one of the best Death Metal album (if not the best) released this year!

Next time they pass by here in Belgium, I'll be there for sure

All hail Vader or just drop dead (you bunch of unbelievers)!!

What albums are recommended by these guys? I downloaded multiple songs off their website (which is easily enough to create an entire CD), and subsequently bought Litany, which is a very enjoyable CD that is also very heavy.

I just heard their cover of "Immortal Rites" it is just as awesome as Morbid Angel's.

I recommend checking out Revelations (just some of the good stuff includes "Nomad", "Torch of War", "Revelations of Black Moses").

Black to the Blind would be another good one("Carnal", "Black to the Blind")

Art of War I'd get the whole album, and from their newest album(Impressions In Blood) I suggest "The Book", and "ShadowsFear". Just something to get you started and hopefully you will find some more songs that will catch your interest, hope this helps.

Hail VADER

@theflyingmachine- dude, Revelations and the Beast are the albums that made me dislike them for a short period of time. If you wanna get into Vader, De Profundis and Litany are must haves.

Two albums...well, one and a half albums that i also suggest are Black to the Blind (i'd buy it solely for the title track even...) and Art of War [EP]. Art of War, while being short, seems to be better overall than 'Impressions...' And due to it being the beginning of a new age for Vader, it should be listened to. Well, one thing though. 'Art of War' and 'Impressions...' are fairly different from the previous albums, and by different i mean - no Doc = different drumming style (faster)

Thanks for the album and song recommendations.
How do you think that Vader changes throughout their career? The songs I heard off the Beast were somewhat more thrashy, and IMO, got old quickly, whereas their earlier stuff that I've heard had to be listened to several times to begin to understand the song. Litany seems to be a good blend of the two styles, although I'm almost tempted to only check out material earlier than Litany, as I didn't really enjoy what I heard from Revelations and the Beast.

Well, Vader has always had a very strong Thrash Metal influence, most notably from Slayer. They showed great promise from the beginning with their legendary 'Morbid Reich' demo. Just when you thought it couldn't get any better, they released 'The Ultimate Incantation' which I still believe to be one of their best. From their they still stayed in their Thrash vein but continued to develop their own unique sound by incorperating heavier rhythm and riffs into their music until they evolved into the crushing behemoth that they are today.

I think their material can really be split into two categories, the earlier Thrashier material of 'Morbid Reich' to 'Black to the Blind' and the heavier, more Death Metal oriented era of 'Litany' to their newest album. The only exception would be 'The Beast' in which they tried to return to their roots. Not a bad idea but I suppose the formula just didn't work right which is why it's not liked as much. (Of course there were numerous EP's where they evolved also.)

Just a small take.

Vader... I'm just getting into the band and I'm wondering why I didn't check them out earlier. Another strong death metal band, they also had a great release this year. Besides their consistent own material, I am heavily impressed by "Future of the Past". This cover album is so awesome! The guys have a great music taste. God, the Terrorizer covers! If only the new Terrorizer disc was like this...

I'm actually not very fond of Death Metal, but somehow I just love Vader. They really kick ass...
Maybe it's those cool riffs or smthn. Their songs are not just shredding from beginning to the end...

i love Vader, and Peter did a great job producing Decapitated's Winds of Creation. Check that band out, Sauron's vocals are less coherent then Vader', but then again Peter has an insane voice.

aaaand same with me. I don't even remember why I bought it because I hated the only song I heard prior to buying....maybe I bought it because of the pretty cover?

It is indeed very good...way better than their last few albums.

Impressions In Blood really is an awesome album, and yes, like you Metal Blade... It did take me by surprise... of course, I know Vader will produce an album to a decent standard...

But, that album was much more than decent.... Much better than the last few albums.

De profundis is one of my favorite vader albums, good old school quality, sothis is probably my fav song from there. The vocals are also pretty raw too.
