There was a topic about them in the old forum - so I thought it would be good idea to create it again So... what do you think about them?

What exactly happened to Doc? And what was the last album that he performed w/ Vader?

Doc died soon after recording the Revelations album. This was Piotr's explanation of his death:

"Doc pretty hard tried to 'fight' against his weaknesses, which were troubles for all of us. Finally he had not prevailed over that battle... All in all, he attempted... Vader today is not just a friendship anymore ? it's our life with armies of man involved in music, releases and, first of all, fans waiting for shows or new albums... This is a high responsibility, not too many know about. If a person, even the most talented one, cannot stand it ? [he] has to leave... That was Doc's decision as well."

I've heard rumours of heroin, but Maury said alcohol abuse contributed to his death.

That is a weird explanation...not exactly your typical 'he will be missed' speech.

I also read it had something to do with a bad heart, as he often took speed before a show. That's just what I read though, it could very well be false.

Yeah, I think I heard that somewhere aswell.. If its true, it would have definately done him quite a bit of harm.

doesn;t speed make you look a lot older too? like basically it seemed like you fast forwarded your life or something

Speed wears down your heart, and it does make you age faster. You are speeding your body, and its not natural to the body. Your appetite is gone, your concentration is increased, and any desire for rest is gone until much much later ( depends on how much ) but if he was taking liquid amphetamines or shooting it up like a hardcore speeder then it would be bound to happen. The human body can only take so much stress.

Friend of mine saw him once while drinking coffee with speed before a show. That's all true, he was speed junkie.

What have we learned from this lesson boys and girls?

Don't do drugs? No.

Don't do speed if you have a bad heart...I'm sure there's other drugs you can use with a bad heart

Vader, a really cool band, one of the best European Death Metal bands, IMO. They released some great albums, "Impressions In Blood", "The Beast", "Litany" etc. I was going to see them on Wacken Open Air, but they cancelled the concert, and it really sucks.. instead of them, Suidakra is coming, they are also a cool band, but Vader is a lot better. Man.. why did Vader have to cancel..

Oh, can't believe I missed this before...Mate, this is not a speech about his death, it's before that, when he was removed from the band.

The Beast didnt hit me very well either, actually I thought it was a pretty boring album and mid paced. But impressions in blood was one of my fav. for sure though, a very mature sounding release from Vader IMO.

Yeah, I agree Impressions In Blood is very mature, much more of a 'solid' sound. My favourite Vader album.

Saw them live just yesterday. Was a great front row feel. Just straight in front of Novy a few meters away. Neck got nicely trashed. I can still feel the numbess after 22 hours. I just don't care.

The show was great, although the sound of solos got sort of lost...Which, while being a quite big disappointment, didn't thankfully disturb me. They played most of the songs I like: Black to the Blind, Epitaph, My Wings, This is the War etc etc. Predator also sounded really awesome live. I think they played The Book too, but some timings were a bit off and I sort of spaced out when the intro music played, so I'm not sure. A lot was from the Daray-era, but it's not such a bad thing. They played Silent Empire too. I know...this is turning out to more like a track listing, but I think just another person saying 'I loved the show' in tens of different words, isn't necessary (plus I lack the words).

Was totally worth it. Vader fully justified their position as my favourite band.

Wow, Just got their album, Litany, and I must say that it is one of the most merciless piece of death metal I've heard. Totally a masterpiece of it's genre ! Ecspecially the bass-pedal work is pretty impressively brought up in this album. Wow !

Well, you can always try reading the previous posts, including the one right above you. Litany is without a doubt their best, and it's one of my all time favorite death metal albums in general.

I found Litany good, but I have always found Revelations to be their most professional piece of work, but hey that's just me.

Anyways their new version of "Incarnation" is online at their myspace page & it shows how far they have come as musicians, especially in the solo's & the drumming is also worth of mention seeing how the song was made when Doc was still alive, Daray does a pretty impressive job of continuing where he left off.

You can listen to it here: http://www.myspace.com/panzervader

Is anyone interested in XXV? For those who don't know, XXV is a 2 CD compilation of re-recorded songs spanning their entire career, with exception to the newest releases. Seven songs from The Ultimate Incantation were re-recorded, five from De Profundis, four from Black to the Blind, and other random songs from random albums.

Some may view this as a cash grab, but I actually think I'm going to buy this because the recording on The Ultimate Incantation and Black to the Blind is quite poor. I just can't believe they put Final Massacre on yet another compilation. That song is so fucking played out that I can't even stand it.

I just heard the downloaded version today, and if there is anything certain at all in the world, then it is that I WILL buy this. All my old favorites sound breathtaking here...I honestly can't say more than if you like Vader - buy this; if you like death metal - buy this; if you don't like death metal - ...dunno, buy it!

I might be overrating this a bit, but that's the bubble I want to be in.

i didnt think they would re-record ALL the songs, i thought they were going to do that with just a few, and that's something i dont like too much 'cause i think its ok to re-record the older songs from The Ultimate Incantation but i like the raw sound of De Profundis and Black to the Blind. The guitar sound of the whole album its different from the one used in all the previous records so thats why songs like Silent Empire, Red Passage or Cold Demons (to name a few) sound weird (to me), but what the hell, its still a pretty solid compilation...HAIL VADER!!!

for the ones who doesnt know anything about Vader, this is a great album to start

PD: by the way, Fear Of Napalm sounds fucking excellent

The only Vader album I own is The Beast, but I've heard a few more songs though. It just doesn't appeal to me. Maybe it's mostly just that album and perhaps I should check out another one somtimes. I'll read some reviews and listen to the older stuff.
