Yeah the UKBM scene isn't going to get far if it keeps replicating that sound. More experimentation pleases.

Debemur Mortii have been plugging this band a lot recently. Finally getting round to a first playthrough now, very good so far. A kind of avant-garde black metal from what I can gather. Violins, horns etc. dotted about infrequently on the record, and clean vocals and other stuff here and there.

I checked that a few days ago, sounds fucking great.

A side-project from Animals As Leaders/T.R.A.M guitarist Javier Reyes, instrumental-djenty-metal/rock-fusion. It has some latin influences, it features the percussionist from Calle 13, wtf
Sounds great.

Finally something close to female-fronted gothic metal worth the listen. Semi-progressive as described by the band.
This seems to be a very interesting group; they change genre every album, the main composer just writes whatever he is in the mood for. This is actually the only album with female vocals I think, and they have a lot. They are all there for stream on the bandcamp page.
