How is Windir pronounced? They're from Norway so I suppose I should say Vindir...
Is that right?

I say Vin-deer, but I have no idea if I'm right lol.

It's probably right. Scandanavians pronounce "v" instead of "w".

How is Xasthur pronounced?

I think it's Zahs-thər.

On an unrelated note, I want to know how to properly pronounce Öröm. I've always pronounced it as Oh-roam. Will any native Hungarian speakers help me out?

The way you pronounce it is evidently wrong : )

ørøm is the right pronunciation. R is rolling but many English speakers usually can't produce it...

ø... look it up on IPA, I bet there's a sound file somewhere. It's like in French word "fEU"...

A similar sound exists in English... it occurs for instance in the word "lEArn"... of course, don't add the R...

try this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:IPA_for_Hungarian

Here is a voice clip so you have some idea of how the ø is supposed to sound http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/7/76/Hu-Gy%C3%B6r.ogg

I'm surprised nobody asked about Kyuss.

there's three ways: something like "Kiuss" (as i pronounce it), "Keeh-us" (like Mr. Doctor does it) or "Kai-us" (like the Germans at the Kyuss Lives! show I was at do it)

You'd have to ask Gary Gygax about that one

I never even thought of pronouncing it the other ways...always just assumed it was "Kiuss".

you leave the whole word with one syllable, like "kiss" only with another letter thrown in there.

I've always pronounced it Insiferum, but this one chick at the record store said Ensifearum. Like ENsiFEARum.

And I'm sure I'm wrong here, with being English and all, but I just say Dimmoo Boarjeer...although not exactly as forced as that spelling makes it sound.

I think I misunderstood now that you guys are talking about one syllable. I say it with two, Ki (like the beginning of kite) + us.

Any help with these three: Darkestrah, Doom:VS (how to pronounce the "VS"?), and !T.O.O.H.! (TOOH?).

Darkestrah seems easy: daakestra, with stress on the 1st syllable
Doom:VS: doom-vee-es. I can't really think of an alternative here, it seems obvious
!T.O.O.H!: you obviously can't pronounce exclamation marks, so it leaves more or less tee-oh-oh-age. Or you could try to impress and say The Obliteration Of Humanity which is, I believe, what the abbreviation stands for anyway.

"dar" being American, and my "daa" being British

I thought the stress should be on the first syllable, because the word is similar in sound to "orchestra", which also has the stress on the first syllable. But you are from an English speaking country, as opposed to me, so I'll take your word over mine

...Yeah, sounds better than the way I did it (something like Keeh-us but not the same "us"). I probably said it that way probably because I went all spanish and said it the way I read it.

Ring (trill it)...

Dimmu Borgir... it's Icelandic...
With French writing it'd probably look like Timuporkir...

I wonder if there's a band somewhere or at least will be founded some day to bear the name Eyjafjallajökull...

I don't... What? :s

I just gave you the IPA for Dimmu Borgir because "dimmu borjear" is clearly wrong...

Assuming you don't dig IPA, you just got the pronunciation of each letter in an example word... I even stressed every particular sound so it'd be especially easy to spot it...

Random words?! Ugh... It's me who should be saying "what?" here...
