Continuation of the (at times) great thread by Damnated.

Last thing mentioned was the LLN *sigh, again*, and SVEST.

Just make sure it's streamed on Bandcamp so I can link it in the article.

I think Lidice (like most black metal bands I guess) might risk violating this part of the Terms of use.:D

Potentially good song ruined by silly, over the top vocals that need to be far deeper in the mix. A problem with many bands...

Haven't listened to it yet but I imagine I'll be giving it a positive review regardless.

Hopefully, anyway.

Not that I care but a lot of people actually like Dråpnatt because of the vocals.

Black metal vocals should always be subservient to the music, especially if you're shrill and melodramatic like Dråpnatt

Heard two songs yesterday and I like it even though I'm not excited about it. I like my black more brutal and noisy with more hate and less melancholy.

I've come to realize I don't have a preference. I went on a major depressive black metal kick before going an an even bigger raw black metal kick, and now I find I seek out a balance of the two. I still listen to the atmospheric Cascadian-style stuff regularly, and I still listen to the straightforward stuff like Horna and Craft.

I get what you're saying (and learnt a new word in the process) but I think the vocals where quite low in the mix to start with.

I generally prefer vocals to be behind the music, if that makes sense. Personal preference of course.

A lot of it has to do with mood I think. If I had a bad day at the office I want something outragous and hateful and dark to "kick" the feeling but if I (for some crazy reason) feel calm and relaxed I might enjoy athmospheric stuff and even flutes.

Makes sense. In this case it's probably in the middle of the music I would say. Depends a little on what you listen through and how you turn the knobs as well of course.

A quite good example of a black metal band with no dominant vocalist is Vae Tertium. Also it is not too melodic and there is no melancholy. What do you think?

Vae Tertium - Sturm Und Drang

I loved this, I love simple black metal, it is the core of itself.

and this:

Dark Messiah - The Virtues of War

I like the guitars with the blast beats, but I feel that it could use some evil change up to it. Though it does fit its theme well.

(I've asked before, but I can't find the old question and i didn't write down the suggestions)
I'm looking for more female fronted black metal (vocals at least 40% female if mixed), either harsh or clean (both would be best, but not essential).
Already got Gallhammer, Darkened Nocturn Slaughtercult, Astarte, Sigh, Darkestrah, Opera IX, Cradle Of Filth. And I don't know where to get the Aenygmist album.
Any suggestions?

Olethros from Dark Messiah was killed in a car bike accident on the 9th of July!
4 days ago I posted a video from them here and today I read on MA their guitarist and founding member is dead.
Can't find any other news on the net to confirm this.

Wolfsmond is a Black Metal band from Germany. Two of their members are/were also members of the German NSBM band Absurd. Absurd members have committed a murder in 1993 and are convinced of Nazi ideas (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Absurd_(band)). I can not listen to such bands and cannot support them. Maybe the music is good, but I am also interested in the people behind and if they are correct guys and girls.
There are so many good Black Metal bands, who do not behave like crazed psychos. My opinion.

I think this is a sticky topic, I know I would rather listen to the music of a good and honest guy, before a nazi murderer. But that Nazi Murder might make some really, really good music. I probably would listen, but theres no well in hell I'd give him $30 for a t-shirt at a show... Or even go to the show :/

As for Black metal, haven't heaqrd anything really good lately, but I'll be back.

Probably some of the better stands imo. Would preffer to not pay for the music.............. Burzum kind of got an exception here though hahahahahaha so I'm probably talking out of my ass now.

Well I don't consider Burzum to be nazi music even if Varg might be since Burzum lyrics are not political at all.
You could say that if you pay for it then the money goes to the man behind the music anyways but at least if that money is used to produce more albums then I am not supporting any nazi propaganda, since, well the music isn't nazi.

Wait, what? If you're supporting the musician, you're supporting him as a person to survive - and thus, supporting, say, a Nazi sympathizer, murderer, etc.

You don't get to pick and choose what you're supporting when you're giving that kind of person money. Of course, I have no issue paying for music regardless of the band members' ideologies, but your opinion on this matter seems rather... hypocritical?

No, actually I saw that as an attackable point in my post and attempted to offer a preemptive counter counter argument. Think of it as a sort of devil's advocate since I personally would not really buy Burzum either.

The only difference I make between nazi bands and bands by nazi sympathizers is that I don't listen to NS bands by principle, even if they make good music, but I have no problems listening to Burzum. Likewise, I will never listen to Aryan Terrorism (that band does suck though since I gave enough listens to at least get a picture and ignored it after) but have no problem with Drudkh.

These albums are very fast and agressive, but without that "ratatatatatatatatata" drumming, with much thrash influence and perfect atmosphere.

Drumming on those old Bathory albums is standard beats played fast. They feature no blastbeats. My guess is you don't like blastbeats.
