No extreme metal forum without Cannibal Corpse

I hope there's no introduction needed with this band. And I also hope I don't have to give more arguments that Cannibal Corpse has made some very interesting cd's.

Cannibal Corpse simply is one of the best death metal bands to have come out. They can be pretty generic at times and they haven't changed a whole lot over the years (though, to say they haven't changed at all is rather a stretch) and they certainly aren't the the most progressive and original band within the scene, they've released some very solid death metal albums and have remained dedicated and consistent with their sound. They helped push the boundaries of death metal in the sense of primitive brutality back in the day and they continue to release albums and push their sound a little bit further each time. They can still put on a hell of a show. It is mostly thanks to them that I really got into the more extreme styles of metal and realized it made the metalcore I was listening to at the time seem inferior. Hail Cannibal Corpse.

Tomb of The Mutilated and The Bleeding, most definitely.

This is also one band, which success I cannot understand. All the songs I've heard from this band seem to be really good, average death metal, but nothing that would indisputably explain all this fame which I see as a high overrating ?

The Soothsayer's comment wasn't enough clearing for me. Could some body give me a lecture "What makes Cannibal Corpse so superior to the other members of the Death metal genre ?"

I never understood what people found in this band, until I listened "Kill". That album brought me into the section of people who stand for the sentence: Cannibal Corpse does not suck. It is not however THE best piece of music I have ever heard, however I DO enjoy listening to either "Kill" or their previous works on numerous occasions where I have a hard time finding good death metal to hear. So thumbs up from this guy!

Yeah, I woulnd't say that they are unique or original in any real way. Competent musicians, sure, but they don't stand out when looking at the overall genre. I agree with you though, good, but average DM.

Just checked out Vile for the first time a few weeks ago...and I have to say that it kicks ass. Seems like the album got some heat for being overly simplistic, but I love it. Time will tell whether Vile becomes my favorite CC album before The Bleeding or not.

Overly simplistic? Are you thinking of the right album? The album is far more technical than anything they had done before (with the possible exception of Eaten Back to Life which had some pretty technical moments).

I actually just starting to get into them now, i guess it's because a friend of mine played a lot of cannibal corpse to me when i was 14, and then Sepultura was the moast brutal metal band i listend to, and i diddn't think CC. was any good back then, and after that i never had any interest to listen to them!
But i must say that they sound great:) i am suprised at how groovy they are! and i think Fisher is great, love the high pitched screams he uses sometimes! i like his vocals better than chris barnes's!
Is there any of their albums witch is considerd as their masterpiece?

I haven't heard any of their newer stuff save for GOre Obsessed. I'm not a huge fan of Corpsegrinder, although The Wretched Spawn is widely considered to be one of their best.

hmm that's interesting. From what I've noticed, The Wretched Spawn is their definitive worst album. IMO they don't have a bad album.

I just based that on what I've read around the net, although I do have trouble believing it's worse that it's predecessor. It's supposed to be a leap in technicality, which in most cases is a good thing.
