Which metal genre you despise the most

So, the reason I joined this forum is because the people seem to be tolerant towards more 'alternative' types and fusions of metal genre, even though the extreme metal is probably most popular kind on this forum. Even so, some of the genres (like the top three) usually take a lot of crap/dislike from one reason or another, it doesn't really matter. So, as tolerant and open minded as we all are, we all have some artists/genres we generally don't like, or truly hate.

So, what's your black sheep of the metal family? (and please no crap about 'not metal'). I can respect and tolerate almost anything, but I guess I dislike Black metal the most (and Pornogrind, if you can call it a genre), but there's really no purpose putting poll for it in this forum. Why do I dislike it? I hardly even gave it a try, but it sounds so soulless and empty to me. That's just my subjective opinion of course.

And yours?

I'd say Deathcore for me. It's just so shallow and empty to me. The music is not very creative, it all sounds alike, they try too hard to sound "br00tal", and the fans seem like tools. That's what I think.
Other then that I don't like Glam Metal. I never really considered them "metal", more like Glam Rock. It's just full of sell outs and care more on their image then in the actual music.

Nu-Metal just kinda grates against my nerves. Also, when the rap influences come in, it is not a great cross genre mashup. I have a few nu-metal songs I can listen to, and everything else just doesn't work for me. Second on the list would be core minus BTBAM because the songwriting is "Broken guitar rhythms, BREAKDOWN! broken guitar rhytms"

As far as alt. metal goes, I like the industrial type stuff like Rammstein or Manson, but the fluffy emo "metal" like Black Veil Brides is just disgusting. Since the fans call it metal, its metal that I hate

Well, I hate Deathcore and Nu, I'm tired of Nu, especially Korn, Disturbed and Linking Park, but about Deathcore, i think even the Power Metal everyone seems to hate it's better than that. I can't stand any Hard-Deathcore band, but i hate Reggeaton more than nothing... Even if it's not in the list.

Can't stand nu, metalcore or deathcore!!

However, i LOVE power and "hair"... for me, they have always been way more passionate and powerful than other genres. Specifically with power metal, i think the understated aggression is more ballsy than the spastic, in your face, screamfest that is a lot of death metal bands.
Don't get me wrong, i like other "harsher" genres as well, but it's just not as effective for me.

If you are to make a poll, why dont you feature all kinds of metal? .. maybe someone hates death metal the most, or thrash, or black.. why didnt u include all metal genres ? its basically pre-assuming that these are the "bad" types of metal and others are good ... to tell you the truth.. i DO dislike most genres on this list, however.. i prefer Nu-Metal to Doom metal ... and prefer Metalcore to Grindcore .. prefer Hair to Black ..

so, this poll is extremely useless, pre-determined and unfair.

anyways, incase anyone's interested i rank metal genres in this manner:

--- favs ----

1) Thrash and its subgenres (ie Technical thrash, blackened thrash, death/thrash...)
2) Death and its subgenres (ie Oldschool, Brutal death, Melodic Death, ...etc)
3) "Heavy Metal" and NWOBHM (although that is NOT a genre .. more of a specific era) (ie. Sabbath, MotorHead, Iron Maiden, Judas Preist, venom)

--- meh, i'm 'ok' listening to them ---

4) MetalCore
5) Nu-Metal
6) Black Metal
7) Goregrind

--- not a big fan, but i dont "hate them" ---

8)Grindcore
9) Hair/ Glam
10) Power Metal

---out of ranking as i cant even stand them---

Doom Metal, Deathcore, symphonic shit, alternative crap.

I can't stand hair metal.

Metal is supposed to be rebellous and intimidating when playing something like that. At least in the core bands it sounds like it could freak someone out, but when you look at a Hair Metal fan (with the tight clothes and the BIG BIG BIG hair) all I can do is laugh to myself because they look like women! And the lyrics are about girls (I think, I don't really like to get into the subject...)

That's fine you don't like hair metal... to each their own. That being said, i must disagree/argue/vent on a couple points.
1. "Metal is supposed to be rebellous and intimidating"... there are many subgenres of metal that i don't think are rebellious or intimidating, but they are none the less metal. But for arguments sake, let's go with this idea... you don't think that dressing up like the opposite sex, leading a "sex, drugs and rock n roll" lifestyle and singing about shall we say "explicit" subjects is a little rebellious? Especially for the time it was popular (80's) and in the American culture during the "Reagan era"? I think for the time it was quite rebellious, and definitely intimidating to many of the uptight, yuppy, conservatives.
2."... look at a Hair Metal fan all I can do is laugh to myself because they look like women!" ... So, woman, or men who dress like them can't be metal?
3. "And the lyrics are about girls"... No. Sure, some are... probably a lot of the big singles that a lot of people are familiar with are. But, if you actually take the time to listen to more that what society has shoved in your face, you will learn there is a whole other side with many topics presented with a lot of the "hair metal" bands.

Just because you don't like something doesn't mean it's not metal. There are many metal subgenres that aren't exactly the harshest or most aggressive, but they are still a form of metal. You may not like them, you may hate the sound of them, you may despise everything they are about, but that doesn't give the right to dictate that they aren't even part of the metal world.

Symphonic power for me. The guitars, the keyboards, the vocals, the lyrical themes - it all annoys me. Can't find anything enjoyable in this particular genre and some familiar genres; I find it so be simply lame and don't listen to it nor have any wish to give any band of this genre a chance, because from what I heard, none seemed even semi-listenable, so keep that crap away from me.

Only ignorant fools can consider cock rock as metal. I don't give a fuck if a bunch of imbeciles called this commercial crap 'hair metal' in the 80s. It only proves they don't know shit about what metal is and isn't.
Sorry but yes, I have the right to dictate what is metal and what is not in this case and I don't hesitate to do it. Glam is not a metal subgenre but a hard rock/rock subgenre.

The fact that you are resorting to name calling shows your lack of maturity, and your total inability to make a valid point other than "i don't like it, therefore they're all big stupid-heads, so there!"
You are not a God/authority figure/metal elder/whatever, so don't act like you are. If you want to have an actual discussion, try making an actual point other than calling me an "ignorant fool" and "imbecilie," claiming i know nothing about metal, and making a hasty statement without anything to back it up. You are the one coming across like an ignorant fool when you act like that. And please, let's lay of the term "cock rock"... it makes you sound like a tool.

First, I'm 10 years older than you and much more experienced when it comes to metal. So, if you try to use the maturity argument, let me tell you I will laugh at it in contempt.

It's not a matter of liking it or not but of it being metal or not. It's not my fault if you lack the knowledge required to see the difference.

Lots of people call glam 'cock rock' and there's a reason to that. Anyway, I use the terms that please me and couldn't care less if it bugs you.

Cock Rock is not metal because it has no heaviness, no speed, no rawness, no roughness, no aggressivity, no technicality. In short, nothing metal whatsoever both musically and lyrically. Add to this that it displays the exact same superficial attitude and image as pop music and you get the picture. It's not a hazard if the term poser has been invented in relation to this mainstream crap.

After checking your list of bands, let's say I'm not surprised at all by your reaction. About 90% of the bands on this list are mainstream metal bands, flowermetal or hard rock.

I don't care what your age is, but i know an immature, shitty attitude when i see one. Again, the need to resort to name calling, insulting me and making grand generalizations about someone you DO NOT know is not needed, and only gets in the way of having an intelligent conversation, and it makes you look like a dick. No, i do not expect you to care, and i don't care if you care, but i choose to call it like it is, so you'll just have to deal with that.
On the actual topic, as far as "hair metal" having "no heaviness, no speed, no rawness, no roughness, no aggressivity, no technicality", i disagree. I think some of the "b-sides" of many "hair metal" bands, such as Dokken, LA Guns, WASP, Great White, Cinderella, etc are some of the rawest music/lyrics there are, and they are definitely technically excellent (George Lynch, Reb Beach, Vito Bratta, Vivian Campbell... fuck!). Are they the harshest/roughest? No, absolutely not. But, there are a lot of other metal subgenres that are just as "light". I don't think that disqualifies them from being metal.
Now, let me make this clear... i am not trying to win you over on this argument. That is fine you have your own opinion, likes/dislikes... we all do, it makes the world interesting. If your opinion is that music needs to be harsher/more aggressive to be metal, thats fine, that's you're opinion. But, don't act like its THE WORD. I just don't get the concept of posting on a discussion board, and just being an ass when someone tries to actually discuss the topic with you. You can make a point, and discuss without being rude.

Let us end this pointless discussion here. It will never lead anywhere, anyway.
Nothing you can say will ever change my point of view. It's one of those instances where I'm totally not open-minded to something, when I'm too much of a purist (you can use the word elitist if you want, I don't mind- for me, being labeled as an elitist is not an insult at all) to accept a kind of music I consider sub-par and lame in its attitude.

Most of those glam/rock bands listed aren't metal IMO. W.A.S.P are the only ones from that lot Id say are metal, but even then, some of their 80's material falls more squarely into the hard rock category than metal. It wasn't really until "The Headless Children" that their metal side completely took over, and the glam/hard rock was left behind. Guns n' Roses are (or were) heavier and more aggressive than those other bands, and most people dont even class them as metal.

Precisely. W.A.S.P is not glam rock but hard rock and the only band the other girl mentioned that can be considered metal, depending on songs. And I never considered Guns and Roses as metal.

And how Death Metal can be a screamfest? A crushing majority of vocalists don't even scream but growl.
