I think that the only stuff that is worth mentioning is the staff pick Ion Dissonance That's how Deathcore should sound...

Never quite liked it. Pig squeals and breakdowns? Thanks, but no thanks. The only somewhat similar band I quite enjoy is The Agonist. Hard to pinpoint their actual genre. Something between metalcore/melodic death/deathcore.

Wow people have such a hate for deathcore without any good reasons -_- Some ppl tell me... Well they do Breakdowns.. WTF is wrong with that I mean Kataklysm does breakdowns... Nile aswell and nobody disses them... and then again the vocals ? SO WHAT ? ok they pigsqueal... they do some porngrind ? and ? Nobody here listens to Grindcore ? don't bs me plz, you guys judge them for no good reasons, I agree that some of the bands do suck but plz don't start Generalizing cos that will only piss me off. anyways going back on the topic... I just bought the first album by a really great Deathcore band named Emmure the album is Goodbye To The Gallows... they already released 3 studio albums but their first is clearly their best effort up to date. Any Deathcore fan should try this out really. visit their myspace. Link: www.myspace.com/emmure

08.12.2010 - 20:13 Written by Guib on 08.12.2010 at 19:42 Grindcore and Pornogrind are COMPLETELY different.. they only thing they share is they both have grind in their names. Plenty of people find most deathcore to be quite generic and mundane with very few redeeming qualities. There is nothing wrong with a simple breakdown, but once it gets to the point where it spans almost the entire length of the song, it gets to be a bit much. Deathcores utilization of breakdowns are quite poor imo, it's just a pathetic attempt at trying to make the song sound "heavy" without putting any real thought into the song-writing process.

08.12.2010 - 20:34 Written by ß on 08.12.2010 at 20:13 Ok ... 1st I was talking about the Grind vocals Nothing else.. and yes alot of porngrind bands and Grindcore bands have similar vocals... then again... listen to Emmure and come talk to me after, I believe they put alot of efforts in their works especially on Goodbye To The Gallows and generalizing is never a good thing to do when talking about a metal subgenre, you might not like it but it doesn't mean its mediocre.

I've listened to Emmure on numerous occasions. I don't think too highly of them either.

Deathcore's alright to listen to and I enjoy it a little, but it's not something I really take seriously.

I think Deathcore is coming into maturity now, alot sooner than metalcore did. Bands like Suicide Silence and Beneath the Massacre at the ones that I think will have staying power and in the long term will be accepted in to general Death Metal genre.

I think deathcore can be done right. Through The Eyes of the Dead and Despised Icon have put out some great deathcore releases. Carnifex is really great too, especially on their last album. However, it seems the most popular deathcore is the worst. I can't stand shit like Bring Me the Horizon.

A lot of people mention pig squeals as a reason to dislike deathcore, but pig squeals really aren't all that common in deathcore. JFAC did them on Doom, AOAA used them for a while, WTC used them on their first album, and... Huh, can't come up with any more examples. Most deathcore vocals are just a mix of high pitched harshed vocals and faux-death growls, or simply deep hardcore shouts. Here's Burning Skies, a deathcore band that's good.

Not really feeling the Burning Skies. You have any other suggestions. I like hearing new stuff. Just found a band called Persaeus that were pretty good.

I kinda like these guys. I like the fact that they're a Christian feel-good band and their image is so embarassing: it seperates the wheat from the chaff and shows who judges music by such external factors. French band, btw.

25.10.2011 - 03:28 Written by brapp32 on 24.10.2011 at 16:53 The clean vocals is actually the shit that turns me off of deathcore. The guitars and drums aren't bad, and I actually kind of like pig squeals. And I love breakdowns, but I like 'em better in death metal.

There's lots of deathcore bands that don't use clean vocals. If you want check out my profile for some suggestions.

What is it with metalheads and normal, natural clean vocals? That's what people sound like when they sing with their own voice, without trying to be theatrical or going for a certain effect. In metal, even most clean vocals are rather forced and artificial. The good vocal melodies are exactly why I like that band, personally.

I never understood the idea of all these -core bands. After Hardcore I kinda lost interest. Wasn't there even something called Applecore at one time?

Moved this discussion to stay on topic elsewhere. Written by Zombie94 on 02.02.2012 at 18:58 No... All I said was that to talk about IWABO in a deathcore discussion is as random as talking about Meshuggah in a thrash metal thread. They do have something to do with the style but they sure as hell aren't representative at all. Deathcore releases I really liked this year: All Shall Perish - This Is Where It Ends Born Of Osiris - The Discovery Catalepsy - Bleed The most traditional one out of those is All Shall Perish while the other two being more experimental and forward thinking with the style. One of my favorite songs labeled as deathcore (I know a couple of people who see them as math metal but I preffer deathcore) Ion Dissonance - The Surge Ion Dissonance - This Is The Last Time I Repeat Myself (less breakdown, more math... just as intense if not more)

So...yeah. Do you ever get to feeling sort of stupid when all you do is talk shit about a certain genre then you hear a song played by a friend who has incessantly heard such shit talking and you have to admit to him that you like it despite the fact it belongs in the same group as your target of hatred??? In case your wondering this is not a hypothetical question but actually happened to me today. I constantly hate on Deathcore, and gave up on it a long while ago for multiple reasons. (Exhibit A: Whitechapel) I had never, ever listened to Suicide Silence, but then he played one of their songs and I didn't want to shoot myself in the face. So now I sort of have to come to this thread with my hat in my hand and say; shit, there are some alright Deathcore bands out there. Possibly even great ones. Mr. Doctor I will be looking up all of your recommendations.

I was the same but when I discovered some good shit, I gave in and went on my search to find the gems well hidden in this genre. Out of the 4, my personal favorite is Ion Dissonance probably because they have a strong math-sound and their breakdowns are actually fucking heavy. Catalepsy comes close with the intense injection of djent. I don't like Suicide Silence though... they are okayish to me.
