Ok people, like the old one, this is the place to tell us your latest concert experiences!

I'll start by pasting my last message in the old thread:

I saw Behemoth, Kataklysm, Aborted and Lyfthrasyr on Sunday.

As I may write a report about this one, I won't say much. Just that Kataklysm, and above all Behemoth, were amazing. Really. Absolutely amazing. I've been blown away, even if it was the third time this year I was seeing Behemoth live (after the No Mercy fest and the Hellfest). But, as headliners, they are even better.

Ok, I'll just give you the setlists of the last two bands, for those who care
Setlist Kataklysm:
Like Angels (Weeping The Dark)
Let Them Burn
Ambassador Of Pain
The Resurrected
Crippled & Broken
Serenity In Fire
1999:6661:2000
Where The Enemy Sleeps...
Beyond Salvation
As I Slither
Face The Face Of War
Manipulator Of Souls
In Shadows And Dust

Setlist Behemoth:
Rome 64 C.E.
Slaying The Prophets Of Isa
Antichristian Phenomenon
Demigod
From The Pagan Vastlands
Prometherion
Conquer All
Christgrinding Avenue
Drum Solo
Slaves Shall Serve
As Above So Below
Summoning Of the Ancient Gods
Christians To The Lions
Decade Of Therion
Chant For Eschaton 2000

Encore:
I Got Erection (Turbonegro cover)

To reply to another post in the old thread, both bands played approximately 75 minutes.

Next to come is Enslaved and Keep Of Kalessin tomorrow

A couple of months ago (in order of appearance) Turisas, Daniel Lioneye, Nachtmystium and Cradle of Filth. I had a hard time getting into it. Some idiot kept sloshing beer all over the place, my cellphone got broken, some idiot in the pit started punching people inside the pit and the people standing on the edge, some other drunk idiot passed out and fell on my wife and me...there was so much extraneous crap happening, it was hard to pay attention to the music. Not to mention the stupid security measures of the venue (what good are their measures when idiots like these get inside anyway?) and the crappy parking situation. At least I got my first look at Turisas live. Oh yeah, and some girl with tall purple hair kept getting in front of me no matter where I moved...and she didn't smell like she had had a shower in a week...and someone kept farting. hahaha What a show! Still a memorable event.

I just came back from seeing Splattered Mermaids and it was fun! Nothing brutal at all but just lots of fun, the guys were very nice, had lots of energy and that feeling of "right in the moment" feels so good when it comes to grindcore (I think they are more grindcore than Brutal Death tbh). So nothing original at all or new but I had a great time and that's always what it counts.

Also the vocalist was so glad when I told him I wanted to buy some merch, ahhahaha. The band looked very excited and glad to see people at the bar where they played.

A couple of weeks, I finally saw Atheist. It was a great show and the guys are pretty cool, I got the chance to speak with them a bit...I don't like the new album Jupiter so I would've changed those songs for old ones...Air and Mother man were my fav songs

Is that still the tour where Nevermore were supposed to play? If so, not seeing them must have been a huge downer there.

Amon Amarth | Black Dahlia Murder | Evocation

27? for a gig with only three bands, of which one only plays 25 minutes and the second around 45. But I found a 50? bill on the floor just before the concert so redemtion was at hand.
Evocation were cool. I only listened to their myspace yesterday and they do that listen-once-and-then-there-will-only-be-30s-samples thing, so I didn't know much. But their show was solid and fun.
Black Dahlia Murder we skipped. Reasons are obvious.
Amon Amarth were ok I guess. I was completely not in the mood for them somehow. They played the same set of songs they always come up with, with a few ones of Twilight from the last tour replaced by a few ones of Surtur. That was it. Sound was awful and the organizers just fogged the stage, lit it green and thought that would automatically turn out good. So I was really bored through the 87 minutes they played. I never realized before how similar and simply structured their songs are. After half of the concert I didn't even want to hear any more. They seemed to blend into another without any clear distinction.
If I see them another time, they had better:
- ask for a reasonable price
- play more stuff from their old days
- work on their sound
- play longer than 90 minutes.

I know the last one seems contradicting to what I just described but I still feel that a band, especially one with that big a catalogue, should play what is necessary to convey their work. Not just 90 minutes and then BAM, goodbye. Amon Amarth even played Victorious March, Gods of War Arise and Death in Fire as one song just to fit into that slot.
Added to that, the club owners thought it'd be reasonable to lock people inside for the whole time. No way to get out between shows to get some air other than staying out. A few people tried and really weren't let in again. They gave some shady justification about violent outbreaks on the street that could reflect on them but it was obvious, this was to sell more beer inhouse.

If you're in Hamburg, beware of Große Freiheit 36! They are fuckers!

I can't believe they sucked so bad, maybe the rain had some effects, but still pretty much the worst international act I have seen. I wouldn't have gone for the gig if I wasn't playing as well. All i kept thinking about was where the hell do they do their shopping

Yeah, they were supposed to play. And I'm a big Nevermore fan, so it was disappointing. But I did see them a couple months ago headlining, so I wasn't terrible upset.

I saw Alice Cooper and Anvil on Tuesday. As always Alice Cooper was killer.

Tonight I'm seeing Cancer Bats, 3 Inches of Blood and Barn Burner.

Few days ago I attended a non-metal show for a change - Joe Cocker - it was great opportunity nearby, so I grabbed it without hesitation

Nothing much to say, a perfect flawless performance of a legend (and the whole support band of course)...still at this age his unique voice stays indestructible. A memorable experience...

Alice Cooper last night. The venue was really small for a band of this caliber but it was quite packed. Musically the show was amazing, starting with Vincent Price's epic monologue from Devil's Food, going straight into a metalized version of Black Widow. Visually it wasn't as stunning or over the top as the Wacken show last year, but it was great nonetheless.

Had one hell of a metal weekend at Ullevi, Gothenburg!

Iron Maiden, Sabaton and Graveyard, last Friday 1/7.
Graveyard surprised me, great rock music and the vocalist had an amazing voice! Sabaton was really fun to see, because it was obvious just how much fun they had on stage. Maiden was Maiden. You know what you get. Good setlist but obvious and nothing that surprised me. As usual, when the crowd goes wild at the intro of stuff like The Trooper, The Number of the Beast and 2 Minutes to Midnight, me and my friend shouts "DAMMIT! Not again!". Seems like Maiden never will play those less known songs (which are mostly my favourites).

The Big 4, last Sunday 3/7.
I don't have much to say. It was just as I expected. One of the most kick ass and awesome concerts I've ever been to. Great setlists from all four bands. But read above for how me and my friends felt during Enter Sandman and Sad But True. Give us something else...

What was so special to me was that my first concert ever was Iron Maiden at Ullevi in Gothenburg, summer 2005. Swedish television filmed that show and broadcasted it. Now I was back, six years later and they did the same with the Big 4 show.

Mine was a longggggg ass time ago. Slayer, Megadeth, and Testament opening last summer. Hell of a show. Slayer and Megadeth both did their 1990 albums entirely, which are both kickass albums, and aside from those put together great setlists. I can't remember exactly but they hit all the good stuff. Testament played 6 songs, a few of which were classics, Into the Pit, Practice What you Preach, etc.

Last show was Rob Zombie, Slayer and Exodus. The music and show were amazing, but the crowd was fucking pathetic. Too busy smoking, talking with friends and acting as if they didn't even come for the music. Exodus constantly bashed us throughout their act for not doing anything, and I don't blame them. There were barely any moshpits during Slayer. Zombie had a good audience though, but they acted more like people at a danceclub than an actual metal concert.
Then again, that was his intention...

I had plans to attend this one, but it didn't work out unfortunately. Especially Apocalyptica are pretty awesome live and also the venue makes it all even more tempting. So yea, I regret a bit...

Yesterday, I saw Acephalix and The Great Old Ones. Crowed attendance was ok since the venue is kinda underground/small/specialised and both bands did pretty good.

I hadn't almost anything of both and turned out Acephalix is a good crusty death metal band and The Great Old Ones are a local band (from Bordeaux) that play a very atmospheric black metal... actually there show was freaking awesome. Listened to a few stuff on their myspace but they sound much better live, but worth checking for fans of WITTR, Agalloch, Drudkh...

Deez Nutz,Architects,Parkway Drive, and Bring Me The Horizon. Deez Nutz and Architects were good bands to drink to but I really wasn't into their music. Parkway Drive were as good as I hoped they would be live. I wish they were headlining so we could have seen them play more songs. We weren't planning on it but we stuck around for BMTH and were pleasantly surprised. I've checked out some of their stuff before and I really didn't like it to much. Maybe it was the alcohol that made them sound good live.
