Definitely. A professor of mine once said to me that language restraints us because there are some concepts, ideas, and feelings that we are unable to express (being this because of the already established words in our languages or for lack of knowledge of those words that can represent or express them) and I see truth in his words. I even go as far as to avoid reading the translations to the songs from the artists and bands that sing in other languages in order to avoid knowing what they say and maybe getting disappointed about it.

I completely agree with you there in feeling that music in this way can get to us deeper. I have an idea of why this could be. Perhaps, by ignoring the words of those songs we keep ourselves from getting a hold to what the composers want to express, what they really want to say in their songs. In some way, we may be taking those songs and making them ours by filtering them through ourselves with what we know, what we perceived which comes to be led by our experiences. It is not the same to read what someone has to say and to construct something by ourselves parting from some tools that have been given to us. I guess that this can be one of the reasons of why people enjoy polyvalent meanings in lyrics and in literature. It is kind of egoist to an extent if we come to think about it.

Hahaha, yes, if you are to have a role model regarding pronunciation, Reggaetón artists should be the last ones to look up to. Hey, be careful, if you are studying languages a time will come when there will not be any language left that you don't know and you won't enjoy music that much anymore.

P.S. Final Fantasy is THE coolness.

Deep, man....your professor totally knows his stuff. Though I tend to look for translations if I find I really like songs..heh, fatal, I know. Sometimes though, it's actually pretty rewarding, because even though sometimes the writer's vision and ours are so different, at times, I find that their visions and mine coincide almost perfectly, or that their expression of their ideas is amazing, or that what they see is superior to what I do. In those cases, it's all worthwhile
I definitely am with you on what you're saying though, and even if it might be egoist, that's the whole point of great music....the experience of losing yourself, yet being transported into your own personal new world...it really is a self-focussed activity

And yeah, that pronunciation thing is deadly, I know a guy who...seriously...every time I hear him speak, I feel like shaking him and saying wtf...you sound like a gangster, man...and the sad thing is that cuz he's pretty fluent, nearly all the other students are in awe of his 'greatness'

Sorry for the late, late, late reply.

He definitely knows he stuff and he also knows how to fail his students in the exams. lol But anyway, I understand you completely; we can have this curiosity of knowing if we got to perceive what the artists wanted to express. And, in doing all that that you have said, we tend to learn something new or be driven to explore some new aspect in the process, don't we?

Yes, definitely, our own world which comes to be, if you come to think about it, a self-exploration.

hahah, I know what it is like. I accompany you in the feeling. Now imagine what it is like having to deal with these people so often as I do because the youth here is immersed in all that Reggaeton stuff. You can even watch little kids, around the years of 7-8 I would bet, singing and using those invented words when speaking. Poor Spanish of ours.

Hocico - Poltergeist

Hocicio (Snout, in english) is an EBM band from Mexico, excellent band. highly recomended to everyone.

POLTERGEIST

Turn on your senses with the last moonlight tear
Let out the spirits of your broken ears
In the surroundings you hear a sweet voice
that makes echo in your lips
And that compelling voice seems to never stop
We keep on listening our blood flows to the top
Strange intentions is what we percieve
Don't wanna be another preys of fear

Don't close your eyes wait for the morning to come
You turn around and still it's twelve o'clock
A thousand memories pass through your mind
You see the ghost, the ghost of the past!

And flying images lurk around us
We feel the cold air stabbing our lungs

Don't wanna see all these things are real
We can't resist anymore this feelings
Have all this nightmare come out from our minds?
Or is this just the way reality cries
The jaws of death are drawn in the sky
We ain't seeing another ray of light
We are caught in the words of the night
Our ears are bleeding, no way to go outside

Tonight we'll see this time it's true
We're living in the darkness!
I wanna scream, you want it too
We'll never see the light
Tonight we'll see this time it's true
We're living in the darkness!
I wanna scream, you want it too
We'll never see the light!

And flying images lurk around us
Wwe feel the cold air stabbing our lungs
The voice is still here covering the night,
Making our ears bleed, cutting like a knife

The jaws of death are drawn in the sky!
We ain't seeing another ray of light!
We are caught in the words of the night
Our ears are bleeding, no way to go outside

Tonight we'll see this time it's true
We're living in the darkness!
I wanna scream, you want it too
We'll never see the light
Tonight we'll see this time it's true
We're living in the darkness!
I wanna scream, you want it too
We'll never see the light!
Tonight we'll see this time it's true
We're living in the darkness!
I wanna scream, you want it too
We'll never see the light!
Tonight we'll see this time it's true
We're living in the darkness!
I wanna scream, you want it too
We'll never see the light!

Never!

NuPagadi - Sweetest Poison. here's the Chorus (The rest of the song is in german):

See the falling angels pray
For my sweetest poison
I can take this tears away
You're my sweetest poison
And I crash and I burn
and I freeze in hell!
For your poison...
Yeah, I'm living my life
in the dark of your spell
You're my sweetest poison...

Another one: I'll explain first. There is a music producer from Argentina, his nae is Gustavo Santaolalla. He has a project called "Bajo Fondo Tango Club", which is basically electronic tango. I got their first album, a self titled, yesterday. There is a awesome song called "Perfume" (Scent). Here are the lyrics, translated:

SCENT

I will chase
The traces of this urge,
Like the water looks for the thirst,
The trail of your scent.

I was pierced
by your soft wind
Headed fo your memory I followed
The path of your scent
The echo of your scent

There is no loneliness that holds the push
The ancient and subtle impulse
Of the echo of your scent

I will chase...
I will chase...
The path of your scent

I was pierced
by your soft wind
Headed fo your memory I followed
The path of your scent
The echo of your scent
There is no loneliness that holds the push
The ancient and subtle impulse
Of the echo of your scent
The echo of your scent...

You will return...
The path of your scent
You will return

I will chase the trases of this urge, I followed
I will chase the trases of this urge, I followed
I will chase the trases of this urge, I followed
I will chase the trases of this urge, I followed
The trail of your scent

Emilie Simon "Never fall in love"

"You want to be my lover
You want to be my man
I am a flower
And I hurt your hands
Don't say you love
Don't say you care
...
I'm not the woman looking for
Roses never, never, fall in love."

Suits me perfectly now
